"J.C. Watts: Don't count my vote for McCain - Former Republican congressional leader blasts party"
I usually don't ping people but considering how this thtread has ben gong I thought some of you might be interested to know that Christian conservative stalwart J.C. Watts has chosen to not endorse candidate John McCain at this point (nor likely in the future) and took a swipe at the GOP for taking both blacks for granted and evangelical Christians.
Thanks for the ping to that. The author confuses J.C. Watts with Armstrong Williams whom he also quotes and I’m not sure if he just stated the wrong name in the wrong place or mis-attributed some quotes as well. J.C. is probably right about the GOP ignoring blacks and evangelicals. But I hope he isn’t really thinking of voting for Obama.
"Well, no, I didn't say that," he told Sean Hannity on his national radio show today. "What I said in the article was that I was a free agent. No one should assume that J.C. Watts should vote one way." Is Watts serious about Obama?
That restores a bit of faith in Watts, at least for me. Maybe this needs it's own thread...
It would be a feather in the cap of the conservative movement for Watts to leave the GOP, go to a third party and endorse either Barr or Baldwin.
I saw that. He’s right about the GOP ignoring the base.
Just in the last week McCain talked about reigning in CEO’s, which is a job for the shareholders, he said the oil companies should share the profits in varying ways, (channeling Clinton!), and wants to have a Town Hall meeting with la Raza.
Nope, Watts is a mere trifle when there’s liberals to be pandered to.
But we must vote for McCain anyway! “Battered wives” unite!
Very interesting. No Republican who clearly sees the handwriting on the wall is going to rush to endorse MacCain.
