Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less (A Real Change Campaign To Lower Your Gas Prices
American Solutions ^ | 2008 | Newt Gingrich

Posted on 06/14/2008 2:38:09 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

As gas prices continue to increase, Congress continues to blame others while ignoring practical steps to stop the pain Americans are feeling at the pump. To lower gasoline prices and reduce our dependence on foreign oil, we need real solutions to our energy challenges.

There is well over 1 trillion barrels of oil in the oil shale in Colorado, Utah, etc. More than 3 times the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia.

Democrats have a voting record of blocking access to this oil and the oil off the coasts of California, Florida, in the Atlantic Ocean and elsewhere. Democrats continue to block access to this oil which oil compoanies say that they want to get to. Democarts have a voting record of even blocking new refineries from being built.

We can tap this oil while we develop new energy alternatives. There is enough oil in these locations to last the U.S. more than 100 years.

Tyranny: when people have to beg government for permission to do something government has no business regulating in the first place.

Hey! I’m not any good at designing things to post, but shouldn’t all the pro-drilling folks be lining up a great bumper sticker for this fall’s campaign - something like “Prevent Oil Drilling - Vote Democratic!” or perhaps “Keep Our Oil underground - vote Democratic!???
“NO! to oil, nuclear or wind energy - vote Democratic.”

They don’t seem just right, however. We need to let the folks know that the Democrats have been stopping all bills which allow new drilling and/r other alternative energy sources to take place.

Any imaginative freepers out there?

According to some, the politicians are in cahoots with the oil companies in a dog and pony show to (1) raise taxes on the oil companies so that the (2) oil companies have a cover for moving offshore like Halliburton. Any truth to that?

Oh, the evil Halliburton comes up.

Sounds like a DUmmy, Kos Kids, HuffPo conspiracy theory.

That is probably the “some” that you are referring to.

“Hate $4 gasoline?”

“Just wait.”

“When it goes to $6.50, $4 is going to look CHEAP!”

And only chumps are cheap. Vote Democrat ‘08 < /sarcasm >

Why on earth would they need “cover” to move offshore? Are we going to stop buying gas and using electricity?

It doesn’t pass the smell test. If they want to move offshore for lower corporate taxes, they will simply go offshore and we’ll fill our tanks just the same.

You need to tell "some" that Haliburton is not an oil company.

I am so sick of people spreading the ridiculous stories that Bush and Cheney are doing things to help "their friends in the oil industry." If they wanted to make money in the oil industry, they would have stayed there and not gone into politics. These arguments are sophomoric.

Halliburton is a leader in the oil services industry, it provides engineering and construction services for oil extraction and development.

Halliburton is not an oil business. I know the kooks & nutjobs don't know any better. I doubt they have ever seen an oil well.

...and we’ll fill our tanks just the same.

Maybe at a higher price. And in a worse case scenario (which doesn't look too unlikely now), YOU won't 'fill your tank' if WE don't produce. FWIW, I can point to about a billion barrels of oil reserves (conservative estimate, and that's reserves, not resources) that are not being produced, simply because the D@mocrats have been preventing oil & gas production from the area in question since I was a young man. I've got gray hair now, and am looking forward to retirement. We're all paying over $4 per gallon - thanks a ton, Nancy, Barbara, Diane, Ted, Hillary, Harry, et al...

Also, tell all your friends either in person or over the phone. We need to push this petion into the millions.

I got my whole car pool to sign the petion.

Tell people to go to google and type in "drill here drill now". American solutions comes right up. Tell them it only takes 10 seconds to enter the petion, then start recruiting others.

I like what Walter Williams said: The true villain in our having to cough up $60, $70 or $80 to fill our gas tanks is the U.S. Congress caught in the grip of environmental extremists.
