I send greetings to all those celebrating the 233rd birthday of the United States Army.
Since 1775, when General George Washington first lead soldiers into battle, the brave men and women of the United States Army have served a cause that is good, just and noble.
Today, the Army is helping to defeat the ideology of tyrants and terrorists. With unwavering courage in the face of danger, members of the United States Army have made America more secure and earned the respect and admiration of a grateful Nation.
I commend soldiers both past and present for your sacrifices in defence of the democratic principles that are the foundation of this country. I also appreciate all of our nation's military families, who have borne the hardships of war with dignity and devotion. Your contributions will never be forgotten.
Laura and I send our best wishes. May God bless you and your families, and may God bless America.
George W Bush
I tend not to think of "US Army" and "propaganda" in the same context, but if you do then we will not be able to have any kind of satisfying dialogue.
If our Army wants to date their origin from 1775, when a general officer was sent from one colony to another colony to defend our interests against the motherland, then I am cool with their dateline.
“I tend not to think of “US Army” and “propaganda” in the same context, but if you do then we will not be able to have any kind of satisfying dialogue.”
There is no “dialogue”. You came on like an insulting ass.
And since you did, I could care less about you and your obvious ignorance of American history...propaganda included.
I apologize to the others of this forum.
I dont cotton to being insulted by ignorants.

Yo DB, good to know you didn’t leave us...or did you?

Still here in comments but not in posts. Best 2 u. I just hope people will ignore me and follow the news. Bless u.
Same to you, buddy.
“Maybe you should go do a bit of reading on the matter and stop believing every propaganda thing the Army puts out. Ignorance and gullibility is quite embarrassing in case you didn’t know.”
So history is now propaganda?
Funny, but there are numerous sources on this subject that all pretty much say this:
“On June 14, 1775, the Second Continental Congress decided to proceed with the establishment of a Continental Army for purposes of common defense, adopting the forces already in place outside Boston as the first units of the army. On June 15, the Congress elected, by unanimous vote, George Washington as commander-in-chief. Washington accepted the position without any compensation, except reimbursement of his expenses.”
But I guess that this is just “Army propaganda”?
“So history is now propaganda?”
Not all propaganda is bad.
Besides did you read all of what I wrote or are you just getting your ovaries fired up because you are an army man?
Maybe you can answer this....
How can there be a US Army before there was a USA?
And how can the Army be that old when the army was disbanded after the revolutionary war...in fact constitution forbids a standing army for more than 2 years in a time of peace.... and there was a time when the govt honored the constitution.
How much of the Army was really militia?
Is the current Army progaganda trying to take credit for what volunteer militia did?
Food for thought.
For example the 101st Field Artillery Regiment was formed December 13, 1636. The regiment is still around and is part of the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
The 3rd Infantry Regiment was formed the same year the Continental Army was disbanded and was comprised of CA veterans as well as officers who held commissions from their respective states.
From 1783 thru June 3, 1784 the Continental Army left a small residual force at West Point and some frontier outposts until Congress created the United States Army.
The Constitution says nothing about disbanding the Army after 2 years of peace.
It says in Article 1, Section 8:
“To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years”
Says nothing about being disbanded.
thank you!........beat me to it! Some people never learn....’course you really can’t ‘learn’ these truisms in ‘gummit schools’ anymore. Only maturity brings the relevance of those lessons home!
thanks....he was a hero, wasn’t he! Ma favorite book last couple years......you guys were the first, History can’t change that! We won militarily because of your sacrifices in spite of a confused country (some things never change!). Like the song says.....”So many things are forgotten”!
Most of the American effort in WW1 (I know it wasn't called that then) were 'militia' (NG, reserves)....but then, that may just be propaganda!
To raise and support armies, but no appropriation of money to that use shall be for a longer term than two years
“Says nothing about being disbanded.”
Snicker
Yeah go tell the guys in Iraq that they wont be getting paid or any benefits and see how long until they disband.
“Most of the American effort in WW1 (I know it wasn’t called that then) were ‘militia’ (NG, reserves)....but then, that may just be propaganda!”
After they were federalized in 1910(?)and came under federal law they were not militias.
Militias are of the people.
But you keep grabbing at those straws.....
to a young lady who is a platoon leader in Afghanistan,
to my old platoon SGT who taught me what it meant to be a soldier,
to my friend home from his last tour of Iraq and now flying back in Tennessee,
happy birthday and thank you.
It says that the budget IE “appropriated money” can not be for longer than two years at a time.
That is why there is a new military budget submitted every year.
DOH!
