Washington Attorney General Rob McKenna leads his Democratic challenger by seven points, a poll indicates.
McKenna-who is seeking a second, four-year term- leads Democrat John Ladenburg 49 percent to 42 percent, according to a SurveyUSA poll released this week.
The poll found that 23 percent of Democrats will cross party lines to vote for McKenna, a popular Republican. Meanwhile, 11 percent of registered Republicans said they plan to support Ladenburg, the Pierce County executive.

This race is more important than it looks, as McKenna has been mentioned of other offices.
Good stepping stone for governor or U.S. senate. However having the AG’s office is very important as well. Law enforcement is not to be taken lightly. Good that he’s ahead.
Say WA? Evergreen State ping
FReepmail sionnsar if you want on or off this ping list.
Ping sionnsar if you see a Washington state related thread.
Rob McKenna, why didn't you do something about King County Elections?
Unless an answer is forthcoming, I'll sit this race out.

I don’t know what was up with that. But the real wrath should be shown towards the RINO liberal Sec of State, Sam Reed. He essentially gave the thumbs up to the theft of the Governor’s office by the rodents. At least in McKenna’s case, he hadn’t been sworn into office as AG by the Nov ‘04 elections. The whole thing was appalling.
He also stated he’d work towards repairing DSHS which he has not and he won’t enforce the state’s I-692 medical marijuana initiative, either. I’m tired of hearing about some sick and dying individual being subjected to arrest and incarceration for having a valid physician approved statement allowing cannabis consumption which happens daily in Washington.
My neighbor was dragged into court, along with his doctor, for having six marijuana plants in his garden that his cancer ridden wife uses for relief. That is BS!
Check with Sound Politics, he had the facts.
Sam Reed was bad, but since King County was unwilling to clean up the mess, McKenna should have put people in jail. He didn't, why should I believe him now?

Basic rule of thumb: Never trust a RINO. They’re worse than a liberal Democrat because they’re a liberal Democrat who is actively working to undermine the Republican party from within the GOP while claiming to be a “real” Republican.
If he would have gone after it hard, one of two things would be true, he would be running for governor and leading in the polls or he would be out of politics.
He chose the safe route, did not do his duty or fulfill his responsibility. Can anyone ever see him beyond an AG?

How can it not be a political issue ? This is all about politics and power. A nice cozy set-up between the Democrats and their operatives in the GOP. Washington State ain’t the only place with a corrupt collusion like that. Always vote for the outsiders in these places, ones with nothing to lose.

Enforcing the law shouldn’t be a political issue, but we’re being naive if we act like it isn’t. Especially when you’re talking about prosecuting Democrat voter fraud, it is a political issue. This is why the Dems are viscerally opposed to IDs and other impediments to mass-scale voter fraud that they tend to perpetrate in urban areas.
In my state, our AG is “elected” by an elitist group of liberal members of our state Supreme Court (and the SC is NOT chosen by the people, but by yet another elitist group of trial lawyers), and it is well understood the AG is a Democrat party hack willing to do the bidding for the party. A prior hack AG flagrantly allowed the Dem candidate for Governor violate campaign finance laws in order to buy the office (which he did — narrowly). Nope, nothing to see here, more Dem corruption, nuttin’ to see ‘tall.
McKenna prosecuting would’ve meant going against his rodent bosses giving him his marching orders, so you can fuhgeddaboutit. If he values his job and starts prosecuting those poor lil innocent rodents, he can kiss it g’bye. They’ll run him out of Olympia on a rail.
The AG is elected by the people in WA State. He took an oath of office. So is it OK to just run and hide from your responsibilities because your political career will be in jeopardy?
What about doing your duty despite the consequences? Where does it all end?

I think we’re both in agreement here, although it may not come out sounding that way. You’re 100% right in that he SHOULD be doing his job without respect to the possible political consequences. He’s the Chief Law Enforcement officer for Washington after all, but you and I both know he simply isn’t doing his job (and same goes for Sam Reed), and no, it ISN’T right. But that’s what you tend to get when you entrust a job of importance to a Democrat or RINO. He wants to serve 8-12 years as AG, get the perks of the job without any heavy lifting (meaning enforcing the damn law against those perpetrating voter fraud and prosecuting the guilty) and then probably retire. Real nice, ain’t it ? It just makes you sick.
