WASHINGTON - Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd reportedly received two mortgages under a special Countrywide Financial Corp. program that gave preferential interest rates to "friends" of the company's chairman.

A spokesman for Dodd, D-Conn., said Friday that the senator did not seek any special treatment.

gotta love that “new direction” congress.

Failed speaker presides over failed congress.

Al Gore says if we tax our energy production more, it can be 71 degrees everyday. Pesronally, I can’t wait.

Oh, and your a sexist male pig for calling her a failed house leader. For shame!

Oh, and you’re a racist.

HAAAA! That was funny. It got even funnier when I paused to realize Chris Dodd is even more of an old WASP male then I am!

You Sir or Ma'am are a comic genius! Thanks for the best laugh I have had in awhile. :-)

"Sorry, he MUST resign....."

Countrywide waived three-eighths of a point, or about $2,000, on the townhouse loan, and one-fourth of a point, about $700, on the second, according to internal documents cited by Portfolio. Both loans were for 30 years, with the first five years at a fixed rate.

What are you talking about? This is nothing. When I got the loan for my house, I negotiated away ALL fees....I didn't pay anything except principal and interest. And I'm just a nobody.

Anyone who pays points is a weak negotiator.

Of course, that didn’t prevent him from taking it, did it?

I am sure it was an oversight on his part.

Think of it as a “Mortgage Sandwich” in Dodd’s case.

Politicians always get sweetheart deals and under-the-table bargains. I remember reading what my County Executive made some years back. It was less than me, but he was living a lot better.

Try paying attention this time. This is what is know as "Conflict of Interest" or "Influence pedaling". If not criminal, it is a violation of every single ethic rule ever written

Dodd had a famale staffer placed at the Import Export Bank in a high position. She eventually married Dodd. Jackie Clegg produced a child with old waitress sandwich guy. Just because he is on the banking committee does not mean he can’t get special loans and favors.

Uh yeah actually it does. Ethics rules are not suspended just cause a guy has a D in his party designation. Amazing how quick supposed "Conservatives" are around here to make excuses for a Leftist scumbags.

Well, blood runs true. Dodd is just as big an arrogant crook as his dear old daddy who was censored by the Senate for being a degenerate crook too.

Perhaps...but it smells...

And remember when Republicans received favors that were legal under house/senate rules...how did the press react to that? Was there a lot of coverage or a little?

Yeah, but Dodd wants to tax unreasonable profit that the big, bad, greedy, capilist pig oil companies make...that makes me like him...Thank god someone in the senate has the stones to take on greedy capitalists...We will all be better off if the central government helps us rubes decide what profit is reasonable and unreasonable.

See you at the nexy politburo meeting, Tovarish Dodd!

I did pay attention, and I stand by my assertion. There are many reasons to abhor Senator Dodd, but this isn’t one of them. Dodd’s ending point in his mortgage negotiation doesn’t even approach my starting point.
