Hannity talking about it now. Say’s Russert gave him a $10,000 check to benefit the Freedom concerts. Didn’t want it known so Sean didn’t say anything.

Closet Conservative??

Russert was chief of staff to Senator Daniel Patrick Moynahan, a true gentleman democrat and stalwart of integrity and honor.

No, Russert was hardly a “closet conservative.” He was one of those rare pearls and a disappearing breed in the media pig pen - a classical liberal with at least some degree of journalistic integrity. He generally tried to be fair and to treat those he interviewed equally. He pitched them an assortment of fastballs, curves and changeups, but he never threw at their heads.

Almost alone among his colleages at NBC, the Nation’s Barack Channel, Russert never felt a “thrill going up his leg” for any politician, and he would have never, ever, called anyone “the world’s worst person” - even in jest. He was a giant among pygmies at NBC.

Russert once suprised Sean Hannity by handing him a check for $10,000 made out to the Freedom Alliance Scholorship fund, which provides college education for the children of America’s military heroes who have been killed or permanently disabled in the line of duty. He was a gregarious fellow with a smile on his face and a kind word for everone he met day in and day out.

This is very sad. Family and faith were the most important things in Tim Russert’s life, and my thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones tonight. Now the workaholic, can finally rest in peace. God rest ye, Tim.

“Closet Conservative?? “

More likely he was just a patriot and good Christian. Not making his charity public. A sad loss for all of us.
