In what state? Hawaii didn't have Jim Crow laws, so there wouldn't be any particular reason to note race on a birth certificate.

Noting race was standard even in non-Southern states in earlier years. I saw one from around that time from Ohio or Pennsylvania that was pretty funny, under race for the mother, the doctor had written 'w' and under race for the father, he had written 'm' same as for sex of the baby.

Thinking this over, it has occured to me that Obama hasn’t risen so much as been elevated with the presidency in mind from the time of his senate election in 2004.

This would explain why he has received support from almost the entire DNC non-clinton establishment - he will be a lot more pliable. advisable, and bring a lot more benefit in patronage to the party elites as a whole than the clintons would, who already have their own functional political machine ready to take over again.

I do wonder what was the greater motivation of those grooming him - to keep the clintons out of power or try to get the presidency with him with no knowledge of who would be the GOP nominee.
