That was part of it, but there was more. I am trying to be as non-specific as possible, but there were whisper campaigns about McCain’s mental health, his military service, and more, all of which was beyond sleazy.

It seems to me that in 2008, that is still a good idea. John McCain, who seems to be decent man (even though I won’t be voting for him) is asking for just that, but no one wants to listen to him.
It’ll be a shame if McCain loses to someone like Obama because this sort of issue eclipsed everything else. Again.
If I had my druthers, I'd rather this country be shaken to it's core with a D at the helm rather than an r. As I see it, no matter which one wins - we lose.

I think your idealism about election niceties is a fantasy. We are at war and this election is an extension in very real terms of that war and the ideology behind it.
We are battling an enemy who seeks the power to forever change our way of life. They have a lot of power currently in our Congress and now they seek the Presidency. This will be a down and out dirty fight in the trenches this time around.
If Mc Cain is not prepared to fight on the same terms as the anointed one he will lose. I find it interesting that there are those here who will allow BHO to win the highest office of this country by sitting out and not supporting the GOP nominee. I can’t stand Mc Cain and I’m sure he’ll be pi@@ing me off with each day of this campaign, but I sure as h@ll will not allow BHO to get my vote in absence of no vote for his competitor.

Yep, I was reading more over at Daily Kos, and the guy who put it online said he cropped the edges. I’m guessing that he did so after re-aligning it.
