I happen to agree that there is still room for discussion, but everybody is a little too quick to cry "forgery" without more substantial evidence. After all, we don't ALL have the discerning gaze of Buckhead (courtesy ping, Buckhead).

I’m adopted, so I can’t really give any insight into an “original birth certificate” - I’m not allowed to see it. For years, my “IL Golden Certificate” which is actually my adoption certificate was told to me to be my birth certificate... Had a little hassle at the DMV when I went for my driver’s license at 16 - due to my insistence on it being my BC the lady looking at it went and consulted her supervisor. They accepted it as legal proof (I think they figured out that I didn’t know I was adopted at the time and didn’t want to be the ones to tell me...) Anyway...

I have since obtained a certified copy of my bc (revised with my adoptive parents names obviously), as well as my children’s and my husbands (no revisions on those). They are all printed via computer/laser printer on watermarked paper, with an embossed seal. Not technically a photo copy. I requested and received a “long form” certified copy last year of mine, and it’s printed on the same paper. There are “short forms” and “long forms” available through the state of Illinois, but neither of these contain signatures like my “golden certificate” did.

Earlier in the thread someone from Hawaii stated that their copy looked the same as Obama’s and contained the same info. It’s in the 201-300 page I believe.

For instance we know that Obama was legally adopted in Indonesia by his step father Lolo Soetoro there, as anyone that has ever adopted a child, or has been adopted will tell you, Your birth certificate can be and usually is amended to reflect the new legal paternity of the adopting parent(s).

Obama’s name was legally changed at adoption, was it legally changed back and are there a whole slew of name changes in his records?

Are we willing to elect a president who has a history of changing his name when ever he feels like it or the mood strikes him legally or illegally?

And how soon until he start calling himself Da O Dawg....

Fair enough but a couple things:

1. Why has he blocked out the serial number?
2. Is this what an original looks like or the reproduction?
3. What hospital was he born at? There would be records there. Any withnesses.
4. What names did Obama use in preschool, kindergarden etc and in Indonesia.
5. Was his mother married to his father at the time?

I’m in agreement with you, but I’m still not satisfied. AS we say in the field, if something is factual then paper flows and flows. Things are balanced out by checks and cross checks. This whole thing has the appearance of something to perfect.

Agree on how how the name is changed on the birth certificate. However, do we KNOW that Obama was legally adapted by the stepfather from Indonesia? I know he used his last name in school, but some schools will allow this. Assuming this is an authentic reissue, it answers very few questions except that he was born in Hawaii and thus legal. I guess that's all he needed to do.

Because Obama’s mom was not 5 years away (minimum) from her 16th birthday when Obama was born and Obama’s father isn’t an American. Because of this, Obama isn’t an automatic American.

For all we know he may still legally be “Barry Soetoro” despite whatever name he calls himself today. Secondly does Barry Soetoro have an Indonesian passport and or a separate Indonesian Birth certificate with his adoption records ...

Right now The man no matter what name is his is being the most secretive candidate I have ever seen run for the office and about the most trival of items, if they are allowed to deflect this sort of scrutiny over the simplest of matters what are we going to do when it is time to ask the hard questions?

Then how in the heck does the father show up as Obama on his certificate of birth reissue in 2007? Unless Obama senior readapted him back after Barack's mom divorced the Indonesian father, this doesn't seem possible. The only possibility is that his father adapted him for Indonesian records, but Obama never lost his Obama Sr. father on American records. (like you wondered)
