Kos did not have to have Obama’s permission to obtain this...all they needed was his, his mother and father’s full names and his birth date. That information is out there everywhere for the taking.

I guess you didn't read this:

Hawaii states that Birth Certificates can ONLY be made available to the following individuals:

Person Named on the Certificate
Mother/Father (or Legal Guardian)
Legal Representative of an Authorized Person
Individuals with a legitimate and legal reason to search for genealogical purposes

Birth Certificates MAY also be released to the following, IF we are provided with the documentation proving one of the relationships specified below:

Husband/Wife of Person Named on Certificate
Son/Daughter of Person Named on Certificate
