> It must be a massive cluster of hundreds of thousands of pissed off Americans, otherwise it’s all just talk.<

For my idea, everyone would do it in their own city.

I’d love to but, that’s a long drive from Texas.

Go to Austin instead.

On our way there, pick one or two gas brands to boycott. Those stations will eventually have to lower it’s price and cause a gas war.

Add guns, pitchforks, and flaming torches and you can include me in.

We could shut Austin down with very few vehicles although, there need to be enough to keep us all out of jail.

You have an idea for tangling up the metro?

I don’t think shutting down the metro or the airport would be necessary. Stopping all traffic and all deliveries would be enough. The logistics of doing business in DC would break down very quickly.

Uglier yet would be the backlash as part of the city burned, especially if there were civillian casualties, especially if those were children.

Protest is one thing, and done nonviolently in overwhelming numbers, may be successful.

Again, especially because it is for the survival of America, it is important that Fire/EMS/and police be allowed to move about the city. Otherwise, the 'usual suspects' will be out looting and burning, and the protestors will get blamed for it.

I think it would be eminently possible to make a point without endangering anyone. But let there be video of even so much as one person spitting on the sidewalk, and there will be Hell to pay as the Drive-by Media use the propaganda moment againt the protest, to sway the God-fearing public (and those who are not) against the protest, AND the message.

You know how Socialists use the media, and you will have to be beyond suspicion in your conduct, have lots of video posted to the internet, etc., or they will use camera angles and editing to make half a million people look like a handful of incoherent hooligans there to tear things up.

That's the trick. If we just do it in everyone's hometown, there won't be enough of a concentration to do any good, and it becomes too convenient to give up and drive back to a cool, dry house. Even picking state capitols diffuses the crowd.

The point is to cause as much mayhem and inconvenience as possible. These clowns are inconveniencing us so they can play their stupid political games of chicken at our expense. It's time to make their lives difficult.

I wish someone that is a good wordsmith would produce a handout that would fit the 8 1/2 X 11 format paper that I could copy and reproduce. The flier would lay out the facts on how the Dems have stymied stalled and stopped the lifting of drilling restrictions, the failure to issue permits for Nuclear power, and lift restrictions on new Refineries. Thank you I would print these things by the 1,000's and pass them out on Las Vegas Blvd. If you would like you could make one for the drive on Washington.I would pass that out also.

Probably. I don’t think it will matter all that much though. The average American is pissed enough about gas prices to agree with the point of such a protest.

The place this idea needs to be spread is the trucking community. A 100’ semi takes up a lot more room than my car, and those guys will organize over the CB.

No, it won't cause a gas price war. It'll just hurt some retailers who make bloody less than the government on a gallon. It won't cause the price of oil to drop --if you aren't buying gas/oil, the Chinese and India are, so it won't make any difference.

The retailers buy from wholesalers who get fuel from refineries who BID on oil on the global market. Many of them now make less than a dime a gallon, just to get you in the convenience store, where they can make a profit.

It is clear from today's SCOTUS ruling - which will prohibit the military from prosecuting a war abroad - that a tyranny is overthrowing the legal Constitutional Republic known as the 'United States'.

If the people do not act quickly in some drastic way - perhaps at least what is suggested here - I doubt our Republic can last two more years. We are being ruled by a tyranny, and people seem to be knuckling under to it. I will NOT live on my knees!

In France, truckers plan a massive national strike beginning Monday. A go-slow convey of up to 200 French truckers caused gridlock Monday in Bordeaux by creating nearly 20 miles of traffic backups. In Italy, truck drivers are preparing a strike to begin June 30.

Jerome Cordier of Unostra, the French union of trucking companies, told London’s Guardian newspaper that the recent protests marked a new phase of coordinated strikes across Europe. Officials fear that the protests could spur widespread disruptions during the summer holiday season.

“We’re taking this up a gear and focusing on the European dimension,” he said.

What you need to realize is that there isn’t a single problem in America that can be blamed on just one party. Every problem has Dems and Republicans working together to cause it or to lengthen the delay in correcting it! We need term limits and we need them NOW.

There is an indigenous part of D.C. which will loot and burn the second you block all police traffic.

However, anger was still evident when Carmichael addressed a rally at Howard warning of, and threatening violence on Friday morning and after the close of the rally, crowds walking down 7th Street NW came into violent confrontations with police, as well as in the H Street NE corridor.

By midday, numerous buildings were on fire, with firefighters attacked with bottles and rocks and unable to respond to them.

Crowds of as many as 20,000 overwhelmed the District's 3,100-member police force, and President Lyndon B. Johnson dispatched some 13,600 federal troops, including 1,750 federalized D.C. National Guard troops to assist them.

Marines mounted machine guns on the steps of the Capitol and Army troops from the 3rd Infantry guarded the White House.

At one point, on April 5th, rioting reached within two blocks of the White House before rioters retreated.

The occupation of Washington was the largest of any American city since the Civil War. Mayor Washington imposed a curfew and banned the sale of alcohol and guns in the city.

By the time the city was considered pacified on Sunday, April 8, twelve had been killed (mostly in burning homes), 1,097 injured, and over 6,100 arrested. Additionally, some 1,200 buildings had been burned, including over 900 stores. Damages reached $27 million. This can be estimated to be equivalent to over $156 million today.

from Wikipedia, 1968 Washington D.C. Riots

Now that did not work out so well, but I can pretty much guarantee that anything but a protest committed to nonviolence and noninterference with critical services (Police, fire EMS), will be met with force, and will not help any cause it embraces, but will be smeared in the media (remember the SOCIALIST media?) and used against what you are trying to accomplish.

Merely the presence of millions of people will tie up parking, block sidewalks, crosswalks, and increase the lines from the toilets to the restaurants.

That alone will have some effect. Carry signs, wear t-shirts telling them who you are, why you are there, but keep it peaceful.

If they only make a dime a gallon, it won’t put the retailer out of business. (heard it was less than a nickle last year)

What it will do is make the supplier wonder why they’re not selling any gas. Could force the retailer to switch brands.

We’re talking CHAOS here.

Block the street for five minutes at a time. The LEO’s won’t have time to respond.

I so love this idea!! Although you know they would try to start towing ... breaking up into many different cities wouldn’t do anything unless it was like four central points like

Wash DC
Dallas, TX
San Fran, CA
Madison, WI

More than that would be to easy to allow towing of vehicles. The more cars the harder it would be to tow.
