Press Releases Contact: Brendan Daly/Nadeam Elshami 202-226-7616 For Immediate Release 06/11/2008 Pelosi Statement on McCain Comment That It Is 'Not Too Important' When Troops Redeploy from Iraq

Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today in response to Senator John McCain’s comments on the “Today” show this morning that it is “not too important” when our troops can redeploy from Iraq:

"Senator McCain’s statement that it is ‘not too important’ when U.S. troops are redeployed from Iraq is yet another indication how out of touch he is with the effect the war in Iraq is having on the readiness of our military. Addressing the national security implications of the military readiness crisis ought to be considered as extremely important by someone who aspires to be commander in chief.

"The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, said again yesterday that our military commitment in Iraq is hindering our ability to meet threats to our national security in places such as Afghanistan. Military leaders agree that the demands of frequent deployments to Iraq are stretching our Army to the breaking point, and that unacceptable strain is being placed on our troops, their families, and their equipment.

"For our military readiness, for the families of our brave men and women in uniform, and for our national security, America needs a New Direction in Iraq -- not the continuation of the Bush-McCain plan for an endless war in Iraq.”

Pelosi will be putting out one or two press releases a day through Novemeber.

Big deal. Her approval ratings and all of congress are below the ratings of the President that they always poits to.

Fact is, she has bought into and supports a man for President, Barack Hussein Obama, who is the apex of the hate-America, domestic enemy in this country. His election as president would be the greatest coup any enemy has ever scored against this country and could easily lead to the worst, horrific disaster in our nation's history.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

Nancy, our gas prices have doubled since you took the Speakership. What do you plan to do to lower prices as you had promised and failed to deliver?

Nancy, the Congresswoman from CA, has no intentions of doing a damned thing about the costs of fuel in this country as she and her Dim friends know the higher the price at the pump the more taxes they take in.

Have you noticed that Nancy Pelosi seems to issue press "statements" approximately once every hour or so? I suppose it's a good thing that Congress has already completed its vital work for the year, otherwise one might get the impression that its leadership is more interested in scoring cheap political points than in passing legislation. That would be awful.

The democrats were yapping a year ago about withdrawing from Iraq before the surge and the Republicans wanted to put it up for a vote. There were no takers for the offer.

My belief is that if the American people were to be polled in an honest referendum about Iraq, the democrats would lose their position in a big friggin hurry.

Military leaders agree that the demands of frequent deployments to Iraq are stretching our Army to the breaking point, and that unacceptable strain is being placed on our troops, their families, and their equipment.

Iraq and Afghanistan are currently, the reasons why we have a military. A military is meant to confront and defend against our enemies.

If the military is meant to be kept just for "readiness" purposes, and to prevent "unacceptable strains", then what happens when new conflicts or wars arise? Will we then be accused of causing undue and unacceptable strains on our military because they are performing the job for which they do exist? If the democrats had their way, our military would be just for show but at a very reduced level of manpower and readiness.

The military is not something that the democrats should ever make decisions about.

The democrats are misstating what McCain said just as they did about the 100 years in Iraq. The reporter asked McCain if he had a better estimate of when the troops were going to be able to leave, and McCain answered that the “estimate” was not important because things are going very well and the generals on the ground would let us know when they could pull out. He was saying the “estimate” is not important.

Um, this statement was made by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen not Nancy Pelosi. Did you intend to disparage what he said? ______
