Obama camp: Rep. Boren ‘has his facts wrong’
The Hill ^ | 6/11/08 | Sam Youngman

Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama’s campaign, in an internal memo, is disputing one Democratic congressman’s characterization of the Illinois senator’s record after the member went on the record Tuesday saying he would not endorse his party’s nominee.

Rep. Dan Boren (D-Okla.) told The Associated Press that Obama is too liberal for his district, and he does not work well with Republicans despite his rhetoric.

In the internal memo, which was obtained by The Hill, the campaign lays out surrogate talking points and says that “unfortunately, Congressman Boren has his facts wrong.”

The document outlines a way for surrogates to refute charges that Obama does not have a history of reaching across the aisle, though it does not offer any suggested talking points for dealing with Boren’s charge that Obama is “the most liberal senator in the U.S. Senate.”

The memo does, however, make a point of the fact that Boren’s father, a former governor and senator, has endorsed Obama.

“Sen. Obama appreciates the support of Dan Boren’s father, former governor and Sen. David Boren, who is one of Obama's key national security advisers and a model of tireless bipartisan leadership,” the memo says.

Wow, that is sloppy.

What do you do when you draw a little flak from a guy just trying to hold onto his seat in a hostile State that you have no chance of winning? Ignore it.

But instead, Obama’s people have made it a story for yet another day.

Amateurs.

Getting confused??

Wright is right but he's wrong.

Boren is wrong but he's right...

Obama is a real piece of work.

This attitude can not be tolerated under the big democrat party tent. Get with the program Congressman Boren or we will confiscate your democrat party card and forever banish you to Lieberman-Land. And your little dog too…

so there IS evidence that Obama is bi-partisan??? I didn’t see them mention the evidence. They just claimed that Boren is wrong.

I know Borens district and historically is has been held by a conservative democrat expect for much of the time the GOP controlled Congress when we held the entire OK delegation. But the Boren family is nothing like the Obama family. They are barely in the same country, let alone the same party.

...tireless bipartisan leadership

It's true. But, what they aren't saying is that it just means the wheels have already come off!

To talk about Dan's Daddy. The president of Oklahoma University is interesting on the subject of security. That is because a Terrorist (in my opinion) blew himself up in front of Owen Stadium during a Football Game. What was interesting was the vehement denials that terrorism was involved.

Why is his campaign even bothering with a reply to this refusal to endorse? Shouldn’t they be spending their time vetting the VP vettors?
