KABUL, June 11 (Reuters) - The U.S. military said on Wednesday that an air and artillery raid which Pakistan said killed 11 of its soldiers on the Afghan border was aimed at Taliban militants and had been coordinated with Pakistan.

"...Coalition forces informed the Pakistan Army that they were being engaged by anti-Afghan forces ...," the U.S. military said in a statement. It added that coalition forces were engaged by anti-Afghan forces during an operation "that had been previously coordinated with Pakistan".

Pakistan earlier denounced the air strike as "unprovoked and cowardly", saying it killed 11 soldiers and undermined the basis of security cooperation. (Editing by David Fox)

Clearly there are no actual facts to be seen in the coverage of this skirmish- history is being re-written as we speak in an eerie 1984-ish way..

I think a lot of history has been re-written in an eerie 1984-ish way, in the last couple of decades.

Hard to know who's a "friendly" and whose not when dealing with the Pakistanis.

The ISI has always been riddled with Taliban sympathizers and I have read that elements of the Pakistani military in the Waziristan Tribal Areas seem to be allied with the Taliban types they are supposed to be fighting.

Since the Taliban is a creation of the Pakistani “secret service”, and still supported by same — is there really any overriding significant difference between the Pakistani and the Taliban?

I’m still troubled by the frequency we learn that sheetheads in study to become militant Islamic martyrs — go to PAKISTAN to “study” the Koran.

Rather interesting observation on your part. These clowns and their monarchies and governments are so transparent it is ridiculous. Either that or perhaps the said governments hope most of the radical types will simply leave their countries and end up dying in A,I, or P, thereby ridding them (the govs.) from local uprisings etc..
Surely most Islamic states do not wish to see any new well organized UBL type emerge any time soon. It works against their national and personal interest. Keep the oil and gas flowing, make big bucks, live in luxuary, and invest big bucks for future purchases of large black limos, and larger pits for roasting the lambs on.
What a bunch of grease balls.
