New Jersey, the ultimate rope-a-dope for Republican challengers.

We are talking about Dick Zimmer, who hasn’t won anything since 1994.

I’ll believe in Senator Dick Zimmer when I see the 100% final returns.

2006 was the Perfect Storm for northeastern Democrats. Tom Kean would have defeated Bob Menendez in even a moderately neutral environment.

The question is what the political environment will be this year. And, to be honest, I currently have no idea.

"2006 was the Perfect Storm for northeastern Democrats."

It wasn't just there. It was almost everywhere. Unpopular rodents got carried to reelection no matter where they were (the lone exceptions were NE, WI, AL & SC in lesser downballot statewide races).

NJ is just too corrupt. No way the republican wins, too many dead people vote there!

Come come now, they’ve been knocking on the Senate door for years, it has to open eventually right? Right?

“It wasn’t just there. It was almost everywhere.”

True enough, but it was far more prevelent in the Northeast than in other parts of the country.

I could never, ever understand how someone like Lautenberg, who started and grew a very successful company such as did with ADP, would be a RAT. You'd think they would HATE WITH A PASSION government regulations and taxes after having to struggle with them for all those years. Maybe it's a form of Stockholm Syndrome

Companies have to use ADP because of government regulation. If there were a flat tax, any company could compute its workers taxes. ADP thrives because of the complexity of income tax withholding, along with overtime regulations, etc.
