McCain's Potentially Fatal 'Exit, Stage Right'
davidlimbaugh.com ^ | 06/09/08 | david limbaugh

Sen. McCain could be making a fatal strategic blunder in thinking he can cobble together a winning coalition in November via the unorthodox route (for a Republican) of courting moderates and jilting the conservative base, including Christian conservatives.

It's possible that McCain will win in November, but if that happens, it will more likely be a result of Obama beating himself -- assuming Obama's campaign doesn't disintegrate before he formally secures the nomination.

McCain must begin with the bad news that his historic appeal to centrist voters is in jeopardy in two major ways. The first concerns Obama's natural fit with these voters. His mythical narrative that he can unify Americans and usher in an era of "hope" will be irresistible to many who are hungrier for kumbaya than any particular policy agenda.

Second, McCain's favorable image among centrists could disappear as quickly as the mainstream media withdraws its opportunistic love for him -- a process that has already begun. Their affinity for McCain was purely a function of his being a thorn in the side to President Bush, Republicans and conservative causes. But now that he is the GOP presidential candidate, he represents the evil Republican Party, which must be destroyed at all costs.

Good article.

He failed to mention however how McCain’s back stabbing of President Bush is pissing off conservatives too!

I have talked to a bunch of ‘Bush Donors’ (the ones McCain got his hands on after going to the WH to get the Presidents endorsement) and they are peeved BIG TIME, because less than a week after McCain started hitting us up for money....he was down in New Orleans stabbing President Bush in the back with the Marxist Media template!

Unbelievable!

He is not getting any money from a whole lot of us!

I just got a McCain fundraising letter in the mail today. I’m planning to return it with a Peso in it.

It also has a McCain ‘08 bumper sticker in it. I plan to display it on my truck upside down.

I’ve decided I’m going to be a maverick this year. I may vote for McCain or not vote for anyone, depending on how things go. Probably for the best anyway.

That strategy has never worked in the past.

Of course it will work this time! /s/

Before McCain steers his ship totally off course -- toward the center and away from the right ...

Too late.

We got a ‘letter’ from President Bush advocating for the little back stabber just a few weeks ago..AFTER McCain had stabbed him in the back in New Orleans and elsewhere!

I still haven’t dealt with that one.

I still love our President. I know he has made mistakes, (so please no posts outlining them), but he is a GOOD MAN, who has been tarred and feathered by the Marxist Media and the libs from day one!

He has had to face some of the most difficult historical tragedies and challenges this country has ever known!

But no-one ever gives him any credit for keeping this country safe and taking the fight to the enemy!

It just puts me near tears everytime I get to thinking about it.

That’s all.......

Hell, I’m ticked off. I got a letter from President Bush asking for money and I sent $2.00 and a letter explaining that I only sent money because the letter was from Bush or I would not have sent anything. Also that back stabbing McCain should be running right of Bush not left. I don’t think they care and I sure don’t think McPain can win.

Speaking only for myself...
I don't think that.

If anything, my heated comments about Dubya on this forum comes
from wondering how a good man like him could successfully work
to liberate Afghanistan and Iraq, defending the borders of those
countries.

And then bungle protection of the borders of the USA.
Allowing our leaky sieve of a border to remain...and letting
crimaliens walk into OUR country.

Duyba gets plenty of credit from me for doing what had to be done.
To make sure there wasn't a "second shoe" dropping on September
12, 2001.

And getting two good guys onto the US Supreme Court counts for
a lot as well.

That is an excellent idea. Think I will do the same thing.

Conservatives need to start a Conservative National Committee/CNC. It is probably too late for 2008, but 2010/12 are just around the corner.

Until then, we need to bypass the RNC and send our money to conservative candidates all over this country. They are getting hurt by McCain and the RNC looks poised to send most of the money to Rhinos in their lurch to the left.

Thanks for your post. The border issue has hurt our party from both directions.

“He failed to mention however how McCain’s back stabbing of President Bush is pissing off conservatives too!”

George Bush pissed off conservatives all by himself.

I see...so is it OK with you if McCain pours salt in his wounds and the wounds of this party?

Look, I hear you and understand. (Been involved in this party for a long......long time)

I don’t like McCain..never did...and never will.

Sorry if that offends you. He will get my vote....but that’s it!

I will spend my time from now until the election exposing OBAMA as the marxist he is....but not promoting McCain.

Hope that is good enough.

Hell, I am a MAVERICK...(eye roll)

This is exactly what my husband and I told the ‘McCain people’ who contacted us about making a donation to McCain in the same amount as we did for President Bush in 2004!

Pander Man- Sung to the tune "Nowhere Man" by the Beatles

He's a real Pander Man,
Sitting in his Straight Talk Van,
Making all his Pander plans
for everybody.

Doesn't have a campaign plan,
refuses to take a right wing stand,
Isn't he a bit like the GOP?
Pander Man, stop hissin',
You don't know who you're dissin',
Pander Man, your RINO ass is about to be canned.

He's as smug as he can be,
Hires 527s who work for free,
Pander Man can you even be the right man at all?

Pander Man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all 'till Barry Obama
leaves you eating his dust.

Doesn't have a campaign plan,
refuses to take a right wing stand,
Isn't he a bit like the GOP?

Pander man stop hissin',

Pander Man, your RINO ass is about to be canned.

Both the Limbaughs hate McCain. Thus far, they have made little progress in defeating him. They are stuck with their views and receive some support. In the meantime, the world goes on without them.

That’s what is going on all over this country with ‘Bush Donors’. Not sure how McCain can be so stupid, but apparently he is and so is the RNC.

We need to get a list together of conservatives who are running for the house and senate around this country, so we can send our money straight to them. We are going to get hurt big time in 2008, unless we get conservatives the money they need to win. It’s an unfortunate reality in this political era.

Thanks for your post.

Nothing we’ve done since President Reagan has worked. We may as well try something different.

We tried something like McCain before; it was called Jimmy Carter.
