E-mailed Batchelor and he replied that Kate is in retirement until the next national emergency when we need an additional infusion of patriotism. Sort of a strange reply, but no Kate for the foreseeable future.
I call BS, I suspect this crap, reminds me of the time BC was said to have blown up at a hearing and when it was shown there was nothing there.

No VanderHeuvel tonight? I always find the need to take a break during her segments. Sorry! Thanks for the Kate Smith update. Miss her but considering the terms of her return, we’ll have to pass!
