Kevin Morgan was jolted awake by what sounded like an explosion. Then he heard something worse: an anguished mother crying for help.
A Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by a woman suspected of being drunk careened through Morgan's Cobb County neighborhood early Sunday before plowing into -- and through -- the home of one of his neighbors.
The massive truck killed 14-year-old Elliot Savary as he slept and injured his sister Leah, who is 13.
Morgan was among the first neighbors to run to the aid of the teens' parents -- the mother frantically seeking help while her husband, Linley Savary, tore through debris looking for his kids.
"The truck is in my kids' bedroom . . . I believe Elliot dead," the elder Savary told Morgan.
Morgan ran to the rear of the seriously damaged house and was able to get far enough inside to confirm the father's fear. He could hear the girl crying as police arrived.
Pierce said police believe Janette L. Eason, 44, of Dallas, was driving drunk when she turned into the quiet neighborhood and weaved down a residential street, knocking down at least three mailboxes and small utility boxes along the way, before slamming into the Savarys' one-story home.
Pierce said the fatal wreck happened after Eason had an altercation with her husband at a Powder Springs location. Police were called to the location, but she drove off in the maroon F-250 before officers arrived. She later ran a stop sign at Macedonia and Old Lost Mountain roads before turning into the victims' neighborhood.
The truck entered through the Savarys' garage and then briefly exited the home then reentered and plowed through Elliot's bedroom, running over him. The truck pushed him through a wall into a second bedroom where his sister slept.

How awful!
Prayers for the family.
And your pat remarks don't take away the fact that a kid was killed in his sleep as a result of the truck plowing through the house by a drunk.
Wow. Drove through the whole hose.
There had to be substantial speed involved here or some crazy lady with her foot jammed on the gas pedal the whole time - maybe both.
This nearly happened to me in the city where I used to live. Cars would miss the stop sign. They would end up in my front yard, drive across my front yard, and exit out my driveway. One came within 6 feet from the head of my bed one night while I was sleeping, and I didn’t even know it until my husband showed me the tire tracks the next day. God bless the teen and his family and friends.
Reality? Or hyperbole?
Did you miss the pictures?
Had a drunk driver hit me, put the car in reverse instead of drive and then thought he was stomping the brake to stop when he realized he was rolling into traffic, but he was stomping the gas. He hit a curb and went airborned landing on us.
Some people in that situation put up a steel guardrail in a strategic spot in from of their house.
The City wouldn’t put up a guardrail, which I asked for. They said it was against state law in that particular situation because someone (the driver) could get hurt. After the City placed a group home next to me, I moved out. Now, I have 4 acres, peace and quiet. :-)
Fry her. That said, this was no accident. Sounds like she had something against somebody in that house.
This just happened to a house about 4 down from us. Someone missed the stop sign and drove right through the couples master bedroom. They thank goodness were still watching T.V. at 11:30 at night or I think it oould have killed them. Took this past month to fix all the damage, this week they had 5 HUGE boulders placed it their yard around the house. We laughed at that and said they look like launching pads!
a very strategic move
I’m glad that your neighbors are okay. :-)
Being hit by a DUI driver years ago, I could count on the cops to show up some time if I saw (and called in) a dangerous, weaving erratic driver. Not anymore, they never show up even when I followed one for 30 miles as he ran people off the road.
When I was a teenager an old buddy was beeping outside one night to go for a ride in a borrowed, giant boat of a car from the 70’s.
I Declined, Thank god. A Few hours later he drove it completely into somebody’s livingroom.
No injuries, the people were in bed at the time.
I feel bad for this boy and his family.
The Woman is in for a world of hurt.
