Hillary's supporters to Obama: ''Continued scorn will not get my vote''
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | June 6 2008 | Carla Marinucci

Posted on 06/06/2008 4:25:55 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

We've gotten an avalanche of emails from around the country this week in the wake of news that Sen. Hillary Clinton will be closing out her campaign Saturday.

This one, from Billie Bromer of Augusta, Georgia, is representative of many, capturing the sentiments of Hillary supporters -- angry, aggrieved, mournful -- as they watch the end of a landmark campaign.

What it shows: the considerable challenges ahead for the Obama campaign -- and the Democratic Party -- when it comes to winning these voters over in the next 150 days.

Take a read:

I am one of those 'upset' Hillary supporters who is clinging to Hillary.com during my 'mourning and grieving' process. The media, the pundits, the politicians, and even the two remaining candidates are talking about me and my vote in November. But the story about Hillary supporters is incomplete.

The most simple -- but woefully incorrect -- way to address the topic of the displaced, diehard Hillary women supporters is to lump us all together.

We came to Hillary for different reasons and we are clinging to Hillary for different reasons.

Some of us are pretty strong feminists and we absolutely love the fact that Hillary represents all facets of the very best of women -- smart, tough, soft, protective, devious, tender, assertive compassionate (should I go on?)

Some of us have been more moderate (sensible) Democrats and we absolutely love the fact that she doesn't represent the more liberal/progressive lean the party seems to be taking.

Some of us just do not like Obama and we are NOT racists for not liking him. We see him as arrogant and smug and he just does not 'inspire' us.

LOL, you make the same point over and over but refuse to answer the question grounded in the reality of where we are RIGHT NOW.

All the wailing and gnashing of teeth is not going to keep conservatives in the game, and indeed it is why we have slipped so far. With all the "one issuers" yelling their all or nothing BS and all the crazy “death of America talk” the straights who have been enjoying the good life of the past 25 years and have no stomach right now for “radical” ideas are not interested, though with things going where they are that will change, but not in time for this election cycle.

You WOT stance is 50 percent correct, yes it does not help with the boarder by any means, but that in no way negates the policing efforts here that have been successful nor the military efforts over seas that are yielding great results. ALL OF THAT will be gone under Obama. Even more so than if Hillary had been the one.

See that the difference, I am looking at REALITY. No third party or whatever term you wish to use, is going to make a difference except in a spoiler role. Sure go out and protest, make noise whatever, hell I'll join you for I hate where we are. But the final call is what happens in the booth in November and that is where I have to draw a line.

See despite whatever I feel about McCain, whatever any posts I read about his ties here and there, and I know he has be "lax" to put it mildly, in key areas of Conservative concern. But we have to look at reality. If Hillary was on the other side I would be much more prone to a protest vote or whatever, she would be like here husband, basically useless once in office, just making a lot of noise and occasional policies here and there but ineffective overall, which we could withstand for a few years. But Obama, he is something totally different, even on George Soros' best day he could not go more left than this guy. And he has Islamic sympathies, hell he was raised in the faith. You think the boarder is a WOT issue, try policies written by CAIR...

BTW you may think there is no WOT but there is, boarder issues not withstanding. We lose that and this is all academic. This is not some debate school election or political science simulation, this is real, it is real politics. Do I like McCain, do I think he will bring some socialism, yeah, he will in some areas, mainly just big government stuff, but he won't make a fundamental and total change of where we are right now. Obama, especially with a willing Congress, could take us places your worst nightmares have never foreseen. You say there is not much difference between Dems and Republicans, well for the most part you are right, at this time and place the lines are blurry. But Obama's is a very bold and wide RED line. I am surprised you can't see that, and I wish you could. There are sheeple on both sides, including those so entrenched in their philosophies they can't think strategically. If McCain wins the worst case is some bad legislation that will need to be over turned and some extra population. The people will be ripe for Conservative Reagan like leadership with a rough economy. But we will be still intact fundamentally and change will be able to occur.

With Obama, we may not even have the opportunity to change direction. We may not even have a Constitution or country left to defend.

Hate McCain's politics, yeah, but 75%, hell even 50%, with me is better that 100% against me and My County. I did not choose to have this choice, but now I have to make it.

BTW the whole “Economy trashed not worrying about the boarders” thing, it is called sarcasm there D, I know you have problems detecting that, as well as irony. So let me point a bit of irony for you. I don't care what you do between now and November, but baring some miracle, it will be a race between McPain and the not so closet Muslim. Any vote other than McCain is a vote for the “chosen one”. The irony, everything you bitch about, well it will be settled with Obama for a long time. You think the current tax code sucks, just wait. You think Amnesty is a bad deal, try full Citizenship and the right to vote for 23 million now democrat loving Mexicans. You think your local laws are bad, try them mixed in Sharia law...

This is not a game and it is no time for temper tantrums. It is time for strategy and having enough left to fight for another day. Conservatives are not in a place to make bold pronouncements, no one is listening, life, at least for the time being and unfortunately for this election cycle so far, is still too good to stray off the beaten path right down the middle for the majority of the voting public. So they will vote a few degrees to the right or left right now. Call them Sheeple, well that is all good, but those are the ones who vote and make the difference, silly how the Founding Fathers did that. They are also the ones we need to quit insulting and scaring and start winning to our side for the next round or this is all bupkis...

Your rant in post #81 is the same old retread of a speech GOP minions state on FR every time they get a dose of reality from conservatives when they present the truth that your own leadership has been selling you out for years by increasingly appeasing socialists and yet for some unfathomable reason you continue to lap it up.

You can keep fooling yourself despite all the facts about McCain in my previous posts and tell yourself some how be put in check by Congress but that completely ignores the very real possibility socialists could have a larger majority, especially if the special elections in which Republicans recently lost are any indication, and then you will have a socialist sympathizing GOP President working with a socialist Congress. The end result will be a disaster for the country.

Yes, interesting now with Obama, that "uncle" has become a derogatory slur.

Obama does not like Uncle Joe!

I sort of admire his pluck, too bad we do not have a conservative with his gravitas.

gravitas? (wonder if the press will resurrect this word again this election...LOL)

Are you talking about ‘Uncle’ Joe or Obama here?

All I see in Obama is extreme arrogance and narcissistic personality disorder......LOL
