Cut car, ditch electric toothbrush-UN climate tips (UN Guide to Climate Neutrality)

ROME - Better insulation at home, less use of the car and even giving up an electric toothbrush can help people in rich nations halve emissions of greenhouse gases, a UN report said on Thursday.

"Adopting a climate-friendly lifestyle needn't require drastic changes or major sacrifices," according to the 202-page UN Environment Programme (UNEP) book entitled "Kick the CO2 Habit: the UN Guide to Climate Neutrality". Issued to mark the UN's annual World Environment Day on June 5, it outlines ways for people to combat global warming with measures such as packing lighter suitcases when flying or going jogging in a park rather than on an electric treadmill.

World emissions of greenhouse gases blamed by the UN Climate Panel for heating the globe total about 4.5 tonnes per person for all of the world's 6.7 billion population.

Most efforts to slow climate change focus on the role of governments -- such as in rules for emissions from cars or power plants or building codes to help avert projected impacts such as droughts, heat waves, more powerful storms or rising seas.

What percent of publishing (books, magazines, newspapers, handouts, etc.) is consumed with the Global Warming scare?

What percent of broadcasting time on tv and radio (and internet) is consumed with the Global Warming scare?

How many resources are wasted propagating a myth of global warming and environemental waste?

They ARE the chief problem that can be easily eradicated from the equation.

Stop talking about it and conserve some resources already.

It makes no more sense to plot how man can “fix” the non-existent man-made global warming problem than it does to plot how we can keep all of our ocean water from depleting as the oceans drain off the edges of our flat earth.

The problem cannot be resolved by the actions of man and the declared problem doesn’t exist. The climate DOES change. The historical record shows that there have been massive periods of freezing and heat on the Earth with NO influence from man.

Enough of these jive talking turkeys. ENOUGH.

and put up some solar panels, take away the luxury cars and make them pay for all of the parking tickets they have. I say that the UN has to go totally green. No waste out the the building, there is already enough hot air being pumped out of that place.

Why not take the UN Building off the NYC power grid?

Brilliant! We'll require the UN to be "zero net energy."

I'll hang my clothing on the line as soon I see Barbra Streisand doing it.

I wonder if I can sell her carbon credits for not using a clothes? She can assuage her guilt and I'll be able to afford to send everything to the cleaners. It's win win.

I read on another thread about some insulating material that, were it widely used, would radically reduce the amount of energy needed to heat and cool homes and buildings.

I have also read a suggestion to build nuclear plants like mad. The electric energy generated would be used to recharge plug-in hybrids. An eventual regime of nuclear power and plug-in hybrids would radically reduce the amount of greenhouse gases generated in the U.S.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, we have to have CRAP AND TAX!!! Talk about politicians crapping where they eat!!!

Dry clothes on a washing line rather than in a tumble dryer: 2.3 kg each load.

I already do that in the summertime when it's not likely to rain. I do it to lower my electrice bill. It would be a bit of a bitch in the wintertime, however.

Let's see if the UN can convince communist HOAs and town governments to remove restrictions on line-drying and rooftop solar panels.

I heard a liberal type remark to his daughter the other day as he passed a vending machine that the lighted Pepsi display it featured was "destroying the planet".

I would personally waive the assault charge, had you decided to smack him.
