Well this will have all the moonbats saying that it’s a divergence of views about bombing Iran — ooooooooohhhhhh — probably much more likely it’s conflict over what Gates said in April, demanding much more effort on UAVs and battlefield support in Iraq and Afghanistan, and AF brass did not like it.... probably built up over a long time and it’s come to a head in the past few months..... just my 2 cents worth of guesswork.

Exactly my take on it. Anyone who thinks the Air Force, of all services, would object to bombing somewhere—anywhere!—truly does not understand the mentalities involved here.

The UAV debate is a big deal. It’s been going on for a while now, and, speaking from my own experience as a ground pounder, the Air Force is smoking crack if they think UAV ISR assets will be better serving other ground pounders if the AF is controlling them, rather than a trained E7 in the BDE TOC.

I’m all for the next-gen fighters, etc, but the AF needs to wake up and smell the modular unit concepts.

moonbats or not - the oil traders (speculators) didn’t like the news. Oil went vertical right after the announcement.

I think its a little pre-mature to totally discount a policy disagreemnt with Iran as being the reason for the resignations. I don’t think it has anything to do with the nuke issues (loose nuke flying over the country or the nuke triggers that made there way to Taiwan) - too far removed in time. I suppose it could be either the on going fued as to the air force not contributing their fair share to the war effort or to the manned v. unmanned A/C dispute.

They already are at HuffPo and DU. They wanted these guys heads on a platter and condemned Bush for not firing them. Now that they are leaving, they are outraged because they think it`s a master plot by Bush to get rid of them because they disagree with Bush about bombing Iran.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Gates gave an order and the AF dragged their feet rather than following orders. If the rumors are to be believed, there are some folks who probably should be court martialed.
