Clinton to concede, loses grasp on No. 2

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is conceding the Democratic presidential nomination to Sen. Barack Obama, as party leaders and strategists began to openly oppose the former first lady's aggressive efforts to join the ticket.

"Senator Clinton will be hosting an event in Washington, D.C., to thank her supporters and express her support for Senator Obama and party unity," the Clinton campaign said in a statement Wednesday night. The event is set for Saturday.

A series of other events Wednesday consolidated Mr. Obama's power over the party as its de facto nominee - a continuing surge of superdelegate endorsements, statements by party elders that the race is over, and his naming of a vice-presidential team, which brought about the inevitable debate over Mrs. Clinton as a running mate.

Former President Jimmy Carter told a British newspaper that choosing the former first lady, who has refused to concede defeat, would be "the worst mistake that could be made." He told the Guardian that since half of each Democrat's supporters don't like the other, Mr. Obama would run the risk of "the worst of both worlds."

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton addresses a pro-Israel group on Wednesday in Washington. The Democratic presidential hopeful is expected to concede defeat to Mr. Obama later this week.

Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell, a Clinton supporter, disputed the notion that Mrs. Clinton's strong second-place finish gives her leverage on the all-but-certain nominee.

"There's no bargaining. You don't bargain with the presidential nominee. Even if you're Hillary Clinton and you have 18 million votes, you don't bargain," he said.

The former first lady agreed to back Mr. Obama during a lengthy conference call with "impatient" House Democrats on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported. Obama aides said their team had no scheduled plans for the candidates to appear together.

Isn’t there still another shoe to drop? Maybe a whole Imelda’s closet full of them, before the convention?

Hillary! is like a Cat 5 hurricane that is blown thru the US, now is downgraded to a depression. She will still bring heavy rain and some wind to the maritimes of American politics.

Still, she’s a Senator able to influence policy in the wrong direction.

New Yorkers need to expunge this parasite from their state in a quick, surgical manner at the ballot box.

If you are saying she blows, I’ll have to agree with you there.

She should console herself with the fact that she will probably be nominated Ambassador to Lichtenstein, or Andorra or someplace out of the way that NEVER makes the news if Obambi wins!

The Obama loving media is trying so hard to dismiss Hitlery despite the fact he hasn't garnered enough delegates to be the nominee.

Superdelegates Can Switch

as party leaders and strategists began to openly oppose the former first lady's aggressive efforts to join the ticket.

This is complete nonsense, how easily people are manipulated.

The Beast and the Muslim will be standing side by side by next weekend, vowing to take the US down the road to socialism and defat in Iraq, with the votes of those who the Founders warned against giving that right to.

This Republic is doomed.

Alright, she may concede, but the only people using this word "concede" are the DBM!

Why Saturday? I just don't yet buy Clinton will "concede" without something. She received the popular vote, FGS these people don't take a step witout getting something for it!

Where's the tape??!

Ya, but realistically, the super delegates won’t switch their votes unless a huge event happens before the convention.

There’s always a chance of some big event happening, or possibilities of the Clintons using the FBI files to strong arm super delegates. It just seems unlikely, but with the Clintons, I would never say never.

Why didn’t she concede Tuesday night?

Why did she ask her supporters to send her an e-mail telling her what to do next? Is she or Huma or someone really going to read those e-mails? Will she cherry pick the e-mails and say her people want her to campaign for Veep, or go scorched earth to Denver? You figure some e-mails will tell her to never give up.

Picking Richardson would not surprise me. Obama needs the hispanic vote and so far they aren’t liking him much.

I have some spectulation on Sir Webb being I live in Virginia...he’s a nasty tempered old lady disguised in a (somewhat) man’s looking body.

I find him to be a disgrace. He looks like he’s about to explode when he gets angry...turns red and puffs up in the face like a spoiled little girl. So sad we are seeing such creatures running and obtaining public office. What happened? I believe the bats are now running the belfree.

It is only doomed if those who CAN see what is happening sit back and do nothing...called the “silent majority”.

I do agree that Hitlery and Obamanation (whoever came up with that...it’s perfect) may end up on the ticket together since being IN the White House is their only care. I don’t wish to loose hope yet, let’s see who he picks and who McCain names.

Even so, it may be time to spruce up a cave or two on our mountain land...just in case my family needs to live in it one day!

Without a doubt, Obama/Richardson’s the ticket. I became convinced of that when Richardson, a long-time Clintonista, threw the ‘Beast under the bus a few months back.
