Clinton to Endorse Obama on Friday

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will endorse Senator Barack Obama on Friday, bringing a close to her 17-month campaign for the White House, aides said. Her decision came after Democrats urged her on Wednesday to leave the race and allow the party to coalesce around Mr. Obama.

Mrs. Clinton’s aides said she would “express her support for Senator Obama and party unity” at an event in Washington that day. One adviser said that Mrs. Clinton would concede defeat, congratulate Mr. Obama and proclaim him the party’s nominee, while pledging to do what was needed to assure his victory.

Her decision came after a day of conversations with supporters on Capitol Hill about her future now that that Mr. Obama had clinched the nomination. Mrs. Clinton had, in a speech after Tuesday night’s primaries, suggested she wanted to wait before deciding about her future, but in conversations throughout the day on Wednesday, her aides said, she was urged to step aside.

“We pledged to support her to the end,” Representative Charles B. Rangel, a New York Democrat who has been a patron of Mrs. Clinton since she first ran for the Senate, said in an interview “Our problem is not being able to determine when the hell the end is.”

Mrs. Clinton’s decision came as some of her most prominent supporters — including former Vice President Walter F. Mondale — announced that they were now backing Mr. Obama.

Did you hear that ignorant Hannity tonight? He was trashing Obama over the same old, same old, bemoaning the fact hillary might be suspending her campaign Saturday and actually admitted and I quote, "I wouldn't have been near as tough on hillary as I am going to be on Obama."

This, IMHO, is bad news. America needed Hillary to distract the scumbags in the media a lot longer than this.

Agree with you. Assuming Hillary does indeed endorse Obama, within two weeks Obama will be up 10 points in the polls on Johnny Mac. McCain will be fighting an uphill battle the whole campaign. In 2009, Hillary will become Majority Leader of the Senate and/or Obama's first Supreme Court appointment.

Your #11 in post #16 needs some inclusion that on his way to Kenya to visit family, he took a couple of weeks alone and riding buses to go to some European cities...in Spain, London, Italy (See Dreams of My Father)....didn’t admire them. How he paid for this trip and these visits he doesn’t say in the book.
