Their income was over 1.67 million dollars, with anticipation of even greater gains ahead.”

I understand a lot of this article sounds sleazy/corrupt, but if their income was 1.7 million, they easily qualify for a 1.3 million loan. Flame away.

The allegation is not that they received a mortgage improperly. Obama has explicitly said that they could not afford to buy both the house and lot at the time and therefore could buy only the house side.
