Judge declares mistrial in the case of Jewish Federation shooter

A mistrial has been declared in the trial of Jewish Federation gunman Naveed Haq.

Superior Court Judge Paris Kallas declared the mistrial moments ago after jurors told her they were hopelessly deadlocked on 14 of 15 counts against Haq, 32.

On the only count the jury agreed on, it found Haq not guilty of one of five attempted murder charges he faced. That count had to do with the shooting of federation employee Carol Goldman, one of five women wounded by the gunman.

Haq showed no emotion when the mistrial was declared.

Prosecutors immediately announced they would seek to retry Haq. A status hearing on a new trial has been scheduled for a week from tomorrow.

Sadly the people here on the west coast have so much compassion for the criminal and none for the victims. Insane or not, this was premeditated and carried out nearly as planned. Have the prosecutors charged him with the wrong crimes??

In Moscow, in Red Square, there are historical impersonators who walk around and chat & take pictures with the tourists. The guy who portrays Lenin has trained pigeons to perch on his shoulders and crap all over his hat and jacket. "Shit on Lenin," he says. There is also a Tsar Nikolai impersonator, Prince Mikhail and Princess Sophia impersonators, but no Stalin.

The jury was probably undecided on these questions:

1. Does state of Washington have a Jew hunting season?
2. What did the Jews do to provoke him?

I think some of you guys are giving the jury in Seattle too much credit. Either the prosecutor screwed up or the case was weak... anyone know?

Read the article and you will see why. The case was not weak at all. There was no question that Haq killed one person and wounded five and that he deliberately chose a Jewish target. The defense raised an insanity plea. Also, a police interview of Haq was ruled inadmissable by a judge.
