YFZ RANCH, Texas - Anne Sweeter Jessop puts her arms around her mother's neck and hangs on, her smile a Texas-mile wide.
She is home. Her mother is here. So are her father and three brothers. And that is all this 3-year-old cares about.
A day after a district judge gave the go-ahead for parents to reclaim their children, families are trickling back to the YFZ Ranch outside Eldorado.
Edson Jessop and his wife Zavenda Young were among the first to return. The couple were on their way to Waco to visit Ephraim, 7, and Zachery, 9, on Monday when word came they could pick up their children.
They turned the three-hour drive from Waco to Hockley into a "mad dash" to get Anne and Russell, 5 - squeezing in at seven minutes to 5, just before the shelter closed.
The workers cried as they bid goodbye to the children, Zavenda said.
The family then drove through the night and arrived here at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
It has been more two months since authorities raided the ranch amid allegations that children were physically and sexually abused there. That led the judge to remove about 450 children from their parents, all members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But two higher courts said the judge didn't have enough evidence of abuse to keep the children from their parents at the ranch.
The events that led their families to be torn apart are too fresh, future state actions too unknown, to return to the ranch now, some parents say. While the state investigation continues, they are setting up homes elsewhere.
But Zavenda does not want to be anywhere else.
"I'm not afraid of them," she said.

Oh come on now let’s be real here. Though I don’t agree with anyone calling names- JRochelle has been one of the main FReepers to call long-time freepers much worse on these threads; and has refused to apologize when directly called on it.
Where were you when this FReeper was calling others vile names? Rules? Oh yeah, well for a month it was allowed to call other FReepers vile names on these threads- but I have noticed the past few days some have been deleted. OH MY we can’t possibly break the rules on polite posting to JRochelle now can we?
As well as this FReeper can dish it out; I bet they can take it. I think no apology is necessary unless JRochelle first apologizes to all he/she offended on these threads.
Was I married to you once? Did they ever reinstate you to your anger management class?

He was a volunteer court-appointed advocate, neither a CPS worker, nor a foster care parent.
The article does not claim he met the child via his advocacy position, but rather, “He was thought of as a family friend.”
“Carroll told the girl’s parents he wanted the 8-year-old and her sisters to spend the night with his family, but he did not reveal that his wife and daughters were away for the weekend.”
Shame on him and shame on the parents for leaving their children in care of a ‘friend’.

Wasn't it a Sarah, wife #? of Dale Barlow, that they were originally looking for? If so, I can understand why the authorities took a special interest in her and asked for two forms of identification. But it was my understanding that each of the minors was assigned an attorney. Didn't she have one while she was still classified as a minor?
CPS can't legally touch an adult. So to avoid that little technicality and because they wanted to detain and interrogate her they classified her as a minor. Then, after they classified her as a minor they used that classification to get a second warrant to remove all of the children, because they now had evidence of minors who were parents.
Goebbels would be proud of you, Alice In Wonderland. I bet he could have taken lessons from you. You are justifying the CPS reclassifying someone so that they no longer have any Constitutional rights. But you don't stop there, you go on to convict her based on the actions of her ministers.

Of course not, they are religious nut cases. Teaching and living based on a lie is not honorable. I will still fight for their constitutional rights though. You seem to think that their beliefs make them ineligible for constitutional rights.

If JRochelle has been making personal attacks, I am at fault for not noticing, or remembering. I hadn’t seen any on this thread.
And the ‘point’ is that those are the rules, and to justify continuing the abuse, because somebody else did it too, is just juvenile.
The rules are those of Mr. Robinson, and as good Freepers, it is our responsibility to uphold them. We shouldn’t have to call in the Mods, because we should maintain respect for each other.
This website is seen by many people, and to degrade it because one wants to act like a child, instead of an adult, is a complete lack of respect for the opportunity that FR gives us.
Next time I notice Jrochelle making a personal attack, I will ask the same I ask of myself.
Refuse to make personal attacks. If each of us controls our self, no one need worry about what someone else is doing.

So you haven't noticed me making personal attacks because I try not to do that. I rarely ping the mods. If I see profanity or in one case nudity, I will ping them.
I can take any criticism. I'm really not afraid of words. If I am convinced I am right, I will not back down.

I am sure that the FLDS and the people devoted to it have a rosy side, and are human just as everyone else.
No problem in learning both sides of all the issues in this case, and one would lack good judgment, if one didn’t consider all sides.
Still, I think Jrochelle was certainly free to make those comments, as a rebuttal to the article. And did provide a source.
If you disagree, you are free to rebut anything she said.
Why don’t you ask Jrochelle to refrain from putting (barf alert) on a thread title, out of respect for the fact that no one else has done it, and for good reason?
