” maybe it has to do with the fact that they are cheating snitches and that their fans are whiney, obnoxious and don’t know how to talk right?”

Not a Patriots fan?

“I read an article recently that mentioned a stat..”95% of NFL fans despise the Patriots.”

So the Patriots are the new Dallas Cowboys?

“Percocet is very powerful, beware./Just Asking - seoul62........”

I’ve never taken Percocet but maybe that is the same thing as Percodan. Percodan is also very powerful. Of course, it doesn’t kill any pain. It just makes you not care that you have the pain.

” Shocked?”

No. I know it’s always the fan of some other-than-the-Patriots team when I hear criticism of the Pats.

OK, I’ll give y’all your “Morphine based pain killer primer”.

Percoset, Percodan, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin are all basically the same thing.

Oxycontin is time released and lasts for 12 hours or more.

The rest are 4-hours.

The differences, in most of them are the other ingredients added. Some also contain tylenol, aspirin, codeine and a host of other ingredients. They all come in varying strengths.

My wife has had large prescriptions for Oxycontin & Oxycodone for a severely herniated disc for which we decided NOT to have surgery (neither of us are big fans of surgery (or even doctors for that matter)). At her worst, she took three 40mg Oxycontin a day, augmented by three 15mg Oxycodone when the pain gets too bad (She has to work our store 12-14 hours a day - 7 days a week (OK, Sunday is only 8 hours) - and stands the entire time.

She has been weening down as the back gets better - so the withdrawl won’t be as bad.

They are “not that dangerous” when compared to other drugs. In fact, hundreds of people die every year because our government puts such pressure on doctors NOT to prescribe them, that folks resort to Advil & Motrin - which destroy their kidneys and livers. So, in reality, many people die - but at least they weren’t addicted to Morphine.

Great philosophy.

Sure, many folks destroy their lives due to addiction. Too bad for them.

I have taken them “for the fun of it” on occasion, and - they ARE seductive. Not only does one get a nice buzz, they also increase energy, desire, and the make you happy and you can get done at least 1.5 times the amount of work you normally could. I suspect that this is why Rush became addicted.

But, then comes the crash - in which you become grouchy and you nod and you are semi-useless, listless and apathetic(unless you take more).

So, in the end, they end up taking more away from you than they give. Also, if one takes 2 pills a day for a week, by the next week, you need 3 pills to get the same effect. So they are deceptive that way too.

That’s why I don’t take them - even though I could.

Yes, a 40mg Oxycontin sells for about $20-$30 dollars on the street. I have seen them in dosages up to 80mg.

When my wife first hurt her back, we had to buy them on the street as Doctors don’t like to prescribe them due to governmental hassles. We finally found a pain management specialist who understood.

In about 1 month, she is going to go thru withdrawl - which includes 3-4 days of bad flu-like symptoms and a WHOLE lot of crying - as your emotions go haywire.

Her back has healed fairly well (we did alot of research and read many cases that with herniated discs, the person will be at about the same “place” in 2 years - whether they have the surgery or not). And, since there are a TON more risks involved in surgery than in taking pills, we opted for the pills.

It was one of the best decisions we have made. By the 2 year mark, she will be fully functional - and 95% pain-free - and her herniation was a severe one which pressed heavily on her sciatic nerve. MY sister-in-law had the same problem (with a less severe herniation)at about the same time. 2 years and 3 surgeries later, she is in worse shape than she was when she started. The body will heal itself if one lets it.

The trouble with back surgeons is that - well, they are surgeons. That’s what they do. And, when all you have is a hammer, every problem is a nail.

In the end, more people probably die in this country due to anti-drug hysteria - than from drug addiction. And, at least the addicts do it to themselves. The same can’t be said for the poor sucker who lives in pain everyday and OD’s on Ibuprofen.

Well I got a wee bit over confident after the Cesarean Section. Dummy me, I thought the epidural effects would be long reaching and I was sorely mistaken, that’s when they gave me percocet. It numbed the pain but not for long and it made me so loopy and disoriented I thought I was hearing things./Just Asking - seoul62.......

Only if your addicted butt buys it off the street.

How many games have the Jets won lately? Oh, and before you beat your chest about cheating your head coach worked for the same organization for years. Another NFL head coach called the Jets out during a press conference for rules violations during a game and the comments by other league personnel is that Mangina is a snitch.

I love NY fans and their sanctimony....

Then there are the Yankees which employed admitted users of HGH and other PEDs

Likely just the constant abuse that football provides. I remember what Favre went through and his story in trying to lick his vicodin habit. Of course Rush did a stint in rehab for his addiction.

Dude, get your wife a stool or a nice office chair. No one should have to stand for that long.

Let me work from the end backwards...

I happen to hate the Yankees as well. I despise baseball in general for being such a wussy "sport", and I happen to pathologically hate George Steinbrenner, so we at least have that common ground.

As far as the Patsies (cough19*-1cough), it's you guys who come to Jets games, get obnoxious to the point where y'all start fights, and unwaveringly always whine to security as you're being thrown out. Granted, you're not as bad a Philadelphia fans, who are simply the scummiest form of life in the known universe, but you're pretty bad. And last I heard, smoking joints and being flashed by women is not a halftime tradition at the Razor. I'll take my crappy Jets any day.

“She is just WAAAY to hyper to ever sit down!”

That’s the thing about pain pills. The more you take, the more they become like speed.

Ask me how I know?

Oh, this has NOTHING to do with the pills. She is just way hyper from the git-go. It works in my favor though because when we sitting downstairs watching a movie, all I have to do is say, “I’m thirsty” - and bam - off she goes upstairs to get drinks or snacks.

It’s a beautiful thing really ;-)

I know all about the the speedy effects of Perc’s as I’ve taken them myself in the past for just that purpose. And, they’re great, unless I sat down. Then I nodded (zzzzz).

"I’m amazed at it, but then a remembrance of the old Yankees’ monopoly on baseball crowns made me realize that that’s how people are. The more pennants the Yankees won, the more people hated them."

Several years ago, in Boston in the dead of Winter during a rally after the first Patriot's Super Bowl win...the crowd broke out into a chant of "Yankees suck." I was astonished to learn of this mindlessness.

That is the way that is it seems.

All whitewater. Mostly West Virginia, Western MD. HAven’t been out west at all. A few trips South - and several months in Costa Rica - and of course, my “home” river - The Big Gunpowder just north of Balto.

I haven’t been out much in the past year or two as I created a “new” product started a business, started a corporation, opened a store in the Inner Harbor and now work my friggin’ BUTT OFF 7 days a week, 14 hours a day.

Things are going well though and we are beginning to hire folks - and we just got hammered rain-wise with more coming in a few hours.

So, I’ll probably try to get out Friday to the Gunpowder to see if I remember which direction my boat goes!!! (and if I still fit in it ;-(
