Want to Lower Oil Prices? Try Drilling Oil, Not Grilling Oil Executives
Family Security Matters ^ | June 4, 2008 | Gregory D. Lee

Congress recently launched hearings in which they hauled in the nation's top oil executives to explain why gasoline prices were so high. "People we represent are hurting, the companies you represent are profiting," Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vermont, told the oil execs.

When asked, J. Stephen Simon, the executive vice-president of Exxon Mobil Corp. replied that his total compensation package was $12.5 million. That's a bargain for a guy that helped his company earn $40.6 billion last year and can't hit a 90-mile-per-hour fastball. Look at some of the salaries sports figures and actors command, and yet none have individually produced profits for their employer's equivalent to over 3,000 times their salaries.

But according to Little Dick Durbin and Stretch Pelosi, the solution to energy independence and lower gas prices is NOT through more drilling...

Sigh!

I received a message from a friend asking if I knew anything about a drive to send drill bits to congress, saying “drill”. I haven’t, has anyone?

That goes against the socialist grain. Maxine Waters spilled the beans when she stated the oil industry should be nationalized.

I would only add: Drill in our own country.

i agree but that ain’ t gonna happen.

look at the article “we don’t need a climate tax on the poor” by james inhofe, u.s. senator.

the lieberman-warner bill would actually RAISE taxes and LESSEN oil domestic oil production.

i tell my democrat-tv-viewing friends about this, and they do not believe me.

Hey, if I made Oil Exec pay, they could grill me all day every day. Then everyday I could ask them if they were opening up the “no-drill” zones yet.

If the Exon-Mobil CEO reduced his salary from $12.5 million to $100,000 how much would that drop the price of gasoline? I doubt it would amount to even a one penny reduction. Gasoline prices are high because of WORLD oil prices. Too bad somebody in Congress doesn't understand that drilling for oil in our own country would be cheaper than buying price fixed oil from the OPEC cartel.

Congress also is exhibiting the ultimate in hypocrisy when they pillory oil execs about high gas prices and then themselves seek new cap and trade carbon taxes that will cause gasoline prices to skyrocket.

What’s so amazing is how the pubbies are so NOT out and about and spouting this truth in the article.

Where are the Republicans and why aren’t THEY saying all this?

No wait....they must tan, they must hobnob, they must dine with the Dems.

I wouldn’t have a problem with drilling in Mexico and the ocean just off of the Kennedy Compound on Cape Cod.

I've had this question many times, but I finally accept that even if we drill our own oil, it is still subject to the world price. BUT, drilling for more oil here would increase the world supply which in turn would lower the market price.

Don’t be surprised if the multinational oil companies move their headquarters and assets out of the US. With threats of being nationalized, who could blame them? Give the Marxists 10 years, the US will look like Venezuela. Give them 20 years, it will look like Zimbabwe.

The US is the best example in history if the Free Exchange-Private Enterprise System.

It is a sad commentary when this question even needs to be asked.
Want to make something more expensive? make sure less of it is available.

I think even third-graders know that obvious fact.
