The firebrand pastor of St. Sabina parish was effectively removed from his duties there Tuesday, according to a statement released by the Archdiocese of Chicago.
In the statement, Cardinal Francis George says he asked the Rev. Michael Pfleger, 59, to take leave for a couple of weeks from his pastoral duties. The statement said Pfleger does not believe this to be the right step at this time.

Makes you wonder who he P.O.'d, huh? Either way, he'll leave this earth a saint, I'm sure!
I appreciate the clarification.
We are agreed then!!!
Maybe it’s only 2 weeks, but it could be just the beginning of the end for Pfleger. My short experience with him is that he works gradually on removing a priest.
Interestingly, this Fr. Vanecko is actually an in-law of Mayor Daley’s.
IIRC a few years ago he was supposed to be reassigned to another church and he 9and his church members) threatened just that. The heirarchy backed down and left him at St Sabina’s. I hope they don’t make the same mistake again. He needs to go.
Well, he may need Mayor Daley to send in the muscle to keep things calm in his parish.
Roe Conn on WLS AM 890 in Chicago was talking very knowledgeably about this development on his PM drive time show today, and he made the same surmise.
I appreciate your appreciation!
