WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama effectively clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, based on an Associated Press tally of convention delegates, becoming the first black candidate ever to lead his party into a fall campaign for the White House.

Aint nothing clinched until the delegates have their say at the Convention. How the delegates feel on June 3 2008 means nothing. The unelected delegates can change their minds, but at great risk. When the dirt on Obama becomes widespread news, the delegates will know he can't win, but can't risk the longterm disenfranchisement of the black voters.

“From what I understand, they can change their vote right up until they cast votes at the convention.”
That’s why the Obamaganda sounds so scared. Every week for two months they’ve screamed a mantra like Gore’s “the science is settled.” As another freeper said, Obama’s people have mastered the drip drip tactic. Every day another supposed super delegate converted...you know, the religiously contexted word conversion is perfect for the Obama messiah.

Smart move...super delegates weigh in now. When the polls close, ordinary voters in SD and MT make him the nominate with the other 7 pledges he needs.

I hope they don’t end up on the same ticket.

All while the polls are still open!
Right on. Can you imagine the turmoil if Hillary were to win both primaries? Not if the AP and MSNBC can help it.

Smart move by whom? The AP does not “decide” elections.

I hope she wins both in a landslide to show the Drive-Bys’ undying love and devotion to Barry.

I hope she wins both in a landslide to show the Drive-Bys undying love and devotion to Barry. I never thought I'd root for Hillary to win anything, but just for spite, I hope so too.

“What happened to wait until the polls close???”
My question exactly. Aren’t there people voting right now? If this isn’t an attempt to manipulate those primaries I don’t know what is. They want Obama to finish strong, no more embarassing defeats. If one positive has come out of this whole experience, it’s that half of all dems now see what we’ve been saying all along - the media is rigged, biased, and not to be trusted.

what happens when they start doing this to REPUBLICANS? (Like they havent already.)Let 'em unleash any and all things against the clintons...that'll just give the GOP a little breathing space, a little down time...before they get back around to us.

You say that like hillary wasn't trying to buy 'em, intimidate 'em, threaten 'em, etc., etc.,...Of course she has. But, it appears that Obama has been doling out considerably more cash than Hillary. According to this article, Obama has been outbribing Hillary by more than 3 to 1. This article is a few months old, but Obama has been raking in huge amounts of money, and superdelegates have been flocking to him. What does that tell you?

Obama’s team...they announced they only need 7 more delegates, they will exceed that tonight...you don’t think the AP can count?

The weaker of the two Dems wins the nomination and thus it paves the way for a McCain White House.

The matchup is now clear:
Obama-Drudge vs. McCain.

In other words, the affirmative action candidate.
