...

“I’m rooted in the Christian tradition,” said Obama, who has declared himself a Christian. But then he adds something that most Christians will see as universalism: “I believe there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people.”

He's either not a Christian, or he's ignorant, or a liar. Maybe all three?

Yeah, it's hard to see how one could hold to the exclusivity of Christ--it's kind of a central Christian doctrine--and a form of universalism at the same time without ever experiencing any tension or cognitive dissonance.

And then I remind myself: This is the Oprah Candidate, after all.

I believe there are many paths to power. But the
shortest path is for me to steal the election for
President of the United States by counting the
votes over and over again until I win.
(Barakianity)

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the truth and the life.
And no man comes to the Father except by Me”.
(John 14:6)

Obama has obviously bought into the Oprah mantra. She believes that there are many ways to Heaven too.

From the book of Evasions, 4:3:

And B'rok 'Bomma saith unto the people, "It has been said that 'Thou shalt employ climate control as deemed wise,' but I say unto you, 'You shall not cool thy dwelling at seventy-two degrees or below.'

RE: Telling people that they're going to hell if they're not a Christian isn't nasty or vicious?

Telling people on a sinking ship they will drown if they don't get in the lifeboat is that mean or vicious?

To those who trust their very lives to the One who created them Jesus Christ is their lifeboat.

As a part of a ministry that provides services in group homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities I am often asked who I am affiliated with... Catholic? Jewish? Baptist? When people ask that question I always reply, "I am merely a Christian." As a Christian I am not better, but I am forgiven by the amazing grace of Jesus. IJN

That should read: 'Thou shalt not cool thy dwelling...

Barakianity is complicated.

I do agree! Mr BHO stutters and stammers in these Q and A sessions. He’s fooling lots of voters and may God help us if he is sittin’ in the White House come November. Trustworthy is not on his forehead!

and that is a belief that there is a higher power...

Sounds like something we ALL learn, BO included, during childhood, no? Did you learn that as a child, Hussein?

Telling people on a sinking ship they will drown if they don't get in the lifeboat is that mean or vicious?

That depends.
Is the sinking ship real or does it only exist in a supernatural fairy tale?

Barakianity: A religion with no rights or wrongs.
You get to make up your own rules and do whatever
you like as long as you’re sincere.

We are not allowed to use His Holiness’s middle name. So we should just refer to him as B.O. Not BHO.

The Obamanation is a true leftist, ergo he is god, prophet, and mesiah of his own cult, all rolled into one.

Not to presume to speak for God, but my guess is that He has a slightly different view...

LOL! You are immensely clever.

That last passage was a little awkward. I was using the JWRV--Jeremiah Wright Rage Version. Let's try a more modern English translation with a different verse.

"While Barack was talkin' to the folks, a man from the crowd said, 'O Magic One, tell us what God is like.'

And Barack replied, 'I don't know if there is a God--not for sure. I'd like to think that God is whatever you think he or she or it is. My wife thinks
I'm God sometimes.'

And the people laughed and rejoiced."

From the book of Evasions, chapter 8, verses 11-13.

Pastor Wright is a “former” muslim and the man who Obama says BROUGHT him to Jesus. If his pastor says that Islam is just as valid (while it denies the divinity of Jesus Christ, denies His death by crucifixion, and denies His ressurection), then Wright is STILL a muslim.

Telling people that they're going to hell if they're not a Christian isn't nasty or vicious?

Not if Hell is an unpleasant reality. Your conclusion only makes sense if there is no Hell. If there is Hell, wouldn't telling someone how to avoid it be the kindest thing you could do?

It's kind of like telling a child not to play in the river because they might drown. If the child desperately wants to play in the river, that a seems a nasty, even vicious thing to say because the child doesn't believe the river is dangerous. But is it actually nasty and vicious to warn the child of the danger?

The only difference between your reaction to the two situations is that you accept the river might be dangerous but you don't accept there is Hell. So we are really not discussing kindness or nastiness. We are discussing Truth.
