Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential vice presidential choice for Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, could balance the GOP ticket, observers say.
Jindal is an Indian-American, Roman Catholic and has solid conservative bona fides, The New York Times reported Monday.
"He has everything McCain is lacking," said Republican state Rep. John LaBruzzo, speaking of Jindal. "He's seen as a true conservative, which McCain is seen as less than."
Jindal's election has helped conservatives in the state Legislature to advance their causes, with legislation on school vouchers, creationism, stem-cell restrictions, and tax and spending cuts.
Louisiana Family Forum, an anti-abortion group, has kind words for the 36-year-old governor.
"I believe there are some philosophical principles we share, that naturally put us closer," said its executive director, the Rev. Gene Mills. "There are a lot of shared values. We value human life and limited government. There's a lot of common ground."
I'll bet you Mrs. Jindal doesn't hate America.

I read his interview with Rush in Rush’s newsletter and he was great! I wouldn’t mind seeing him being the running mate, although I would be fearful for him to run with McCain because McCain leans left and if he messes up then that would reflect on his VP if he tries to run later on.
We need Bobby right here in Louisiana.
I would bet the Governor might just see that mcnutts is a lose, lose deal and would hold out to run in 2012 as president and not some rinos vp pick.Keep your powder dry .
amen!!!
Keep him in reserve. We’ll need him later.
Nice looking people.
Go Bobby Go!
he’d be a refreshing newcomer.
and welcome, if as many are predicting, mccain’s too old
and might die in office! they hope.
Jindal was in Monroe over the weekend and stated pretty clearly that he would not be the VP candidate, although he was honored to be among those mentioned on the 'short list'. He went on to say that he had the job that he wanted (which is not the first time he's said that recently). I have never had anything Jindal told me prove to be untrue, and I'm hoping that it doesn't change anytime soon.
Agreed, Bobby needs to stay in Louisiana for now. I have good feelings about this one... the Force is strong with him.
This is silly: we criticize Obama for being a lightweight, having no experience to speak of, and then promote Bobby Jindahl, whose experience differs from Obama’s in that, while both come from extremely corrupt states, Bobby’s is far smaller?
And if memory serves me, several recent news stories have indicated Jindahl hasn’t particularly made good on his conservative pre-election promises.
Bingo. BJ LOVES government solutions. A conservative believes in people finding solutions. Rush missed the boat here. Just keep your eyes open.
McWhacked would never choose Jindal — two reasons:
1) Jindal is way too conservative for Juan McLame’s taste.
2) McWhacked would be afraid that if he chose Jindal, the spotlight would be on Jindal more than on himself.
I routinely lambaste Oh!bama for his hubris in starting his run for the Presidency when he’d had less than 150 days in office in the Senate.
Jindal isn’t ready. Not yet. 2012 maybe.
