“Star witness describes terror camp
Machine-guns, grenade launcher ‘excited’ Khawaja, court hears”
Ian MacLeod, The Ottawa Citizen

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “Momin Khawaja returned from a terrorist training camp in Pakistan “excited” at having handled assault rifles, machine-guns and a grenade launcher, his Ottawa trial heard yesterday.
In a second day of testimony, prosecution witness and informer Mohammed Babar offered a peek inside the world of global jihad, from its embryonic days following the 2001 U.S. invasion of Afghanistan to details about shadowy al-Qaeda figures on the fringes of what came to be known as the 2004 London fertilizer bomb plot.
He implicated Mr. Khawaja in helping finance the operation that was to bomb a London nightclub, shopping centre and power utilities. More incriminating allegations are expected as his testimony continues into next week.
As he did Monday, Mr. Babar began reciting names from the moment he took the witness stand. His co-operation is part of a plea bargain with U.S. officials to reduce the decades the 33-year-old faces in prison for pleading guilty in 2004 to providing material support to al-Qaeda.”
