If Obama or Hillary wins, I get hanged.

If McCain wins, I still get hanged. But I get to choose which rope is used, and I get to smile as I walk to the gallows, because I'll know that I was "part of the solution."

The self anointed "true conservatives" are interested only in cultural issues such as queers, abortion, and mexicans.

Right, these are only cultural issues, no real concerns with any of those issues.

However, McCain is part of the problem and not a solution. He may take the GOP to the abyss.

Without a willing Congress, a President's power is limited to appointments, executive orders and foreign affairs. If you want to enable the left, be my guest. McCain wasn't my first choice. I registered as a pubbie for the first time in NY to vote for Thompson. He quit before super Tuesday. I held my nose and voted for Romney. I lost $10 with McCain being the presumptive nominee. The bet was that none of the RINOs, i.e. Romney, Giuliani or McCain would get the nomination.

No mention of illegal immigration and the rule of law. Natually, he couldn't mention it with Graham present. This is what is wrong with this party. One million people are apprehended at our border each year and sent back and another 500,000 to 1 million make it thru successfully. We have 14 to 22 million illegals in this country. It affects every challenge facing this nation. ,

No mention of it. Shame on you Mr. Pence. The rule of law is the paramount conservative principle.

First, there was touchback, which was incorporated into the reform bill last year. The cultural conservatives hate Pence for this.

The touchback was a scam. Spend a weekend outside the country and be back as legal. And privatizing the function was just some more crapola so they could rush these people thru.

Only Nixon Could Go to China, and Only Pence Could Sell Amnesty to the House

Whatever Happened to Mike Pence?

well now...another once fine conservative has bit the dust. Pence and his open borders/total amnesty sham and calling McCain’s cabana boy a conservative is over the edge.

John McCain must become the 44th President of the United States.

No, John McCain absolutely must *not* become president.

Pence has a clue when he says move right, but I don't think he is anywhere ready to move as far to the right as it will take to win majorities again, as is demonstrated by his honoring John McCain and Lindsey Graham, two of the most liberal socialist scoundrels there ever was in the Republican party..

It’s extremely frustrating to see the Democrats ripping each other up and making fools of themselves, and no decent candidate to step in and take advantage of it.

I certainly never will vote for Obama or hillary, not in a million years. But I’m not sure if I can vote for McCain.

I’m not sure how sensible he would be even in the war arena, although at least he isn’t a peacenik. He has had a long record of doing things like supporting the Muslim Albanians against Serbia, for instance. Why on earth? I’d expect that from clinton, but not from a sensible Republican. And I’ll never forget his betrayal of the POW-MIAs from his position of trust, presumably for political advantage.

Yes, Obama is certainly worse. But at least if he were elected you would know who you were fighting against, and the Republicans in congress would have someone to rally against, and we might look forward to throwing the Democrats out of congress in the midterm, while blocking most of Obama’s legislation and appointments.

At least one of the parties in congress would be in opposition to him, but McCain could draw on his friends from both sides and pass just about anything.

I don’t criticize anyone who votes for McCain, to prevent a worse disaster. I just think that the argument expressed in this article, that Juan McCain can lead the Republicans out of the wilderness into the conservative promised land, is totally ludicrous. Rather, he can be relied on to lead them into the swamp.

I don’t know what I’ll do next November. It’s very, very discouraging. I certainly take no pleasure in saying these things.

That scalawag Graham...

Now is that any way to talk about the next Vice President of the United States of America? ;)

LOL! The thought of Amnesty Graham being the next VP is enough to curdle vinegar.

"privatizing the function was just some more crapola"

Everything is relative.

Under AgJobs, Bush Plan, and McKennedy, the costs of converting illegals would have been pushed off on the employers.

With touchback, the costs couldn't be pushed on the employers and more govt employees would have been required. Which is why Pence wanted to privatize the process. The dems would never have consented.

Conservatives are victims of their own success.

We won the Cold War. It is still a dangerous world, but many folks are not taking the Islamic and Chinese threats seriously. These folks are not going to vote for a Conservative agenda to defend the country. Many of them have a hard seeing WHY the country should be defended.

We cut taxes. We cut taxes so much that almost half the population is no longer paying taxes. Many of these people are no longer invested in the country. Instead they are looking for more government handouts. The Democrats can ALWAYS outbid us for these votes and have no qualms about doing so. If taxes have to be raised to pay for them - so what? They aren’t paying taxes... only the “evil rich” pay taxes.

Defend the country? Less government? Lower taxes? NONE of these will sell any more to a population of self-indulgent, infantile, irresponsible, non-taxpaying voters. They want free stuff and to “feel good.” They don’t want to hear about responsibilities and how dangerous the world really is.

I think Conservatism is in for a long, cold, exile.

“”I am humbled to share the stage so many great conservatives in South Carolina, like... Sen. Lindsey Graham.””

Yeah, I was tracking pretty well until that line. Maybe Pence decided he’d just join ‘em since he couldn’t fight them.

This is a matter of national security. You still need USG employees to run this process. The FBI and CIA would still have to run the necessary security checks. And these security checks would have to include government checks around the globe.

Everyone is affected by these energy prices and the truth is they are happening because Democrats and their envirowacko friends are doing everything they can to prevent us from producing and refining oil. They also refuse to let us build nuke plants. This is a winning Republican issue.

Most people are also fed up with illegal immigration. Democrats are doing everything they can to increase illegal immigration--not decrease it.

Is this nation so shortsighted they don't remember 9/11? Democrats are doing everything they can to make us forget it. We need to remind the electorate.

Democrats will kill the goose that lays the golden egg if they raise taxes. That is difficult for many to understand but it's our job to tell them--over and over again.

To say McCain is imperfect is analogous to saying Jimmy Carter wasn’t a great President. McCain is far from a conservative. To elect a 50% McCain ensures that you will get a 50% Republican Party with 50% Marxist ideology. I’ll pass and support real conservatives.

I agree. But here are our choices:

A) Vote Republican with fingers pinching nose: Elect a Republican, though half-massed.

B) Vote Third party: Elect Dems.

C) Sit it out: Elect Dems.

D) Vote Dems: elect Dems.

E) Challenge McCain at the convention? I cannot suppose how that'd work out.

Is there another option that I'm missing?
