The United States is operating "floating prisons" to house those arrested in its war on terror, according to human rights lawyers, who claim there has been an attempt to conceal the numbers and whereabouts of detainees.
Details of ships where detainees have been held and sites allegedly being used in countries across the world have been compiled as the debate over detention without trial intensifies on both sides of the Atlantic. The US government was yesterday urged to list the names and whereabouts of all those detained.
The Brits used to keep the Thames river filled with Prison ships back in the 18th century.
The Guardian is the most anti-American British news service in the world. They make the NYT look like the GOP when it comes to pure hatred.
Remember the “Americans are dumb” headline when Bush won in Nov 2004? That’s them.
As for the prison ships...good. I wish it were prison planes tso we can kick out those AQ POS off at 5000 feet and hear them scream.
I think prison ships are a good idea... only if anchored in shark-infested waters.”
If this is true- Good for us!!
Hold their trials there, also and have them walk the plank like the old pirate days.
There are so many Americans walking the streets that would be justly served with the same fate as (the fictional) Lieutenant Philip Nolan:

Heh heh! I think an ocean cruise would do ‘em some good.
No man will be a sailor who has contrivance enough to get himself into jail; for being in a ship is being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned.
These are “Green” times. We must think “Green” thoughts. Fill the ships to capacity, and then make them into artificial reefs.
The fishies will love it.

I am very disappointed that were not just dumping them in the middle of the ocean. I doubt the sharks would even want to eat such dirtbags."
I was about to jump all over you - until I read your second sentence! I for one am getting sick and tired of the liberals in this world who seem oblivious to the nature of the threat we face.
“The Guardian is the most anti-American”
Yes I was going to say this. The Guardian is an extremely liberal publication. Do we even know this is true?
If it is, wouldn’t it just make water boarding easier?
The English do have a way with words, Johnson very much so. thanks!
Navy destroyers are the real prison ships. Our deck division was like a nautical Cool Hand Luke.
Bingo.
The liberals say that the route of the ships carrying slaves to North America is still infested by sharks hoping for a snack. Not that I would accept such an old wives’ tale as truthful, so I am not suggesting any particular course of action.
I wonder how the Guardian beat the New York Times being revealing our war secrets?
I wish there was a way we could put the liberals on the front line in the battle against terrorism. They would try some big group hug but most would end up missing their heads.
It makes me mad as hell that our nation's security is being compromised because of a bunch of liberals. I don't wish death on any American but if there's another terrorist attack (and there will be), I wish somehow it would only affect the liberals that have defended the terrorists.
Modern prison shipsHMS Maidstone was used as a prison ship in Northern Ireland in the 1970s for suspected Nationalist guerrillas and non-combatant activist supporters held without trial. The current president of the Nationalist political party Sinn Féin, Gerry Adams, spent time on the Maidstone in 1972. He was released at the time in order to take part in peace talks.
In 1997, the United Kingdom Government established a new prison ship, HMP Weare, as a temporary measure to ease prison overcrowding. Weare was docked at the disused Royal Navy dockyard at Portland, Dorset. On 9 March 2005 it was announced that the Weare was to close. Since then, the government has advertised for a contractor to supply 800 prison ship spaces to alleviate overcrowding.
