This gaffe (obne of Obama's many, many gaffes) hasn't received the coverage that others have.

His campaign says that he meant to say 10. There were 12 that died in those Kansas tornadoes. What an idiot.

Obama said that there were 57 states, too. Perhaps he was thinking of Heinz 57 steak sauce when he said this.

It's not so much a gaffe as a result of the haloed one's time in the Chicago ghetto. If you talk to residents of poor urban black neighborhoods the desire to believe the most outrageously false tales is remarkable. The CIA introduced crack to the ghetto, the US started AIDS, 9/11 was an inside job. Mundane matters like an arrest for domestic disturbance can quickly become a belief that the arrestee was murdered along with his family by the police.

Having spent 20 years trying to become these people, the haloed one easily slips in and out of the flourishes of fantasy that occur everyday in places like the Chicago projects.
