(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) is facing renewed criticism regarding his national security policies as he continues his campaign for his party's presidential nomination.
In a YouTube video Obama made for a liberal pacifist organization last year, the senator called for major cuts in defense spending, slowing the development of future combat systems, and cutting investments in America's ballistic missile defense program.
Some conservatives have expressed surprise at the degree of Obama's proposals on the video, and this past weekend, Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-N.Y.) campaign released an ad criticizing Obama's alleged national security inexperience and trumpeting her as the person who could deftly manage emergency global crises.
In his video, Obama repeats his support for ending the Iraq War, saying, "I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending. I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems. I will not weaponize space. I will slow our development of future combat system. ...
"I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons," Obama says in the video. "To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons. I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material, and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals."
Obama also promises in the video to institute an independent defense priorities board to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) is not used as a vehicle to justify unnecessary spending.

I hope all the bad stuff about Obama does not reach critical mass before he gets the nomination.
This makes the fall Republican campaign real simple.. just run this 52-second Obama video incessently on TV, followed in the remaining 8 seconds with the message “the Nation’s survival depends on you NOT voting voting for this person”.
Russia, China Call U.S. Missile Defense System “Offensive”
In a jointly issued statement, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev condemned the United States’ plans to set up an anti-missile defense system as “offensive.”
“By seeking to defend itself from a sneak attack, the U.S. is sending a bad message,” Hu said. “It’s like they’re saying they don’t trust us. How do you think that makes us feel? We have no defense against sneak attack. Why do the Americans think they need one?”
Medvedev echoed his Chinese counterpart’s thoughts and offered an analogy to help make his point. “Among wolves, deadly hostilities are avoided when one wolf lies on its back baring its throat to a potential lethal bite,” Medvedev explained. “This gesture of submission and trust in the mercy of one’s foe defuses the conflict and leads to a peaceful resolution of differences.”
The Russian president argued that a “mutual vulnerability” would reduce tensions between his country and the U.S. “An American defensive capacity to shoot down Russia’s missiles is very offensive and discomforting to me,” Medvedev admitted. “If I knew that the United States was as helpless against attack as Russia, I would have less to fear.”

Me too. Republicans have an uncanny ability in missing opportunities, and if discovered, executing at the wrong time. McCain is a master at this.

Because to the liberal mind, war is an undesired reminder that man is not basically good, but sinful, and thus restraints are necessary, from spanking, to sexual morality laws to just wars. All of which they unreason-ably oppose.
They most certainly do.
