I drove by a little while back, it's still one of the nicer-looking houses in that area.
Heck, though, any house in that area is worth its weight in gold for the view, alone.
The view.. and walking the east forty cup of coffee in hand on a winter morning watching the sun light up the cakerock on the hauchucas. Snow on the cactus... Yeah. Who could put a price on it.
I belong there
You have the wrong house FRiend! LoL
The place I lived was a snake ranch L0L
Are we thinking xeriscape? That's low-water landscaping, using desert plants and rock. If done right, it can be very attractive. I had a neighbor who just let his front yard go wild - it was low-water and ugly!
Oh...hmmm...I assumed it was one I looked at to buy in the ‘93 time frame. I must have been looking at a different house in the same neighborhood.
That ol snake ranch in Herford, Well, it was zeroscape.
Mesquite and palo verdes and cactus of all sorts.
A big ol rosemary bush in the front that I would use for cookin.
A hedgerow of peppercorn? That a covey of quail used for cover.
Warblers and Humming birds would frequent the place this time of year as I didnt fix the swamper and it leaked. I put a bowl under it to catch the water and I caught a load of critters drinkin from it.
Out back ther was a wash with a bridge over it, that was the javalina highway..
Sigh...I’m gettin misty ;)
Dont tell to many.
SV is a national jewel
I would get misty, too, for that kind of ‘yard’.
I saw a pair of quail in the front yard today. They’re the first I’ve seen since moving into the new house two years ago. We have quail all over the city, just not here, yet. Until now.
I’d like to put up hummingbird feeders, but don’t want the mess that comes with them. The bats find them, and then you’ve got colored water all over the porch!
I shoulda plunked down roots there. I hada nice line on a place on ramsey canyon rd like a 1/4 mi from the preserve.
5 acres 82K
I passed as the job expired. Im still kickin myself ;)
There are more critters around there than you can shake a stick at!
It’s hard to find one acre for less than that, now. And, a quarter mile from the preserve? That’s prime, old son, just prime.
They’re talking about putting in a housing development in Rain Valley, now. And all that land between Huachuca City and Whetstone, east of the highway? More custom homes going in there. Soon, there won’t be any wide open spaces down here.
It just wont be the same.
Someone let the cat out of the bag and now look whats happened
Well FRiend, I have to head out to the mercado and do some bbqing.
Be back in an hour or so
Drive careful, we’ll see you when you get back.
BBQ’ing sounds good, we’re doing Italian tonight.
With Mesquite chips and a little beer in the bottom of the pan for a delicious smoky flavor you'll not soon forget.
OMG! 3 lbs bistek ranchero, 1 lb chorizo, 3 lbs barbacoa de res, epasote, cilanrtro, jalapenos, limes, tortillas, charro beans, chocpolate bars, condiments.
30 bucks. Woot!
YUM!!!
That sounds great!
Good deal, and good eats.
Fresh jalapenos? Yummm....filled with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, and baked...delightful appetizers.
It was very good. Nana took a rack of ribs and we did them that way on the grill last weekend. About 3 hours of slow roasting with the grill at about 275-300 degrees.
