BAGHDAD A U.S. Marine handed out coins promoting Christianity to Muslims in the former insurgent stronghold of Fallujah, outraged Sunni officials said Friday. The U.S. military responded quickly, removing a trooper from duty pending an investigation.

That may be true, Tailgunner Joe, but that is not the mission assigned to him by his secular country.
If we want to change that and make the conversion of Christianity a formal part of the primary mission, then it needs to come from the top. It needs to be implemented politically. This fellow had no right to make that choice on behalf of his fellow Americans he serves with in Iraq. It was foolhardy.
America is not a “secular country.” America is a Christian nation founded upon Christian concepts. The word “secular” is not to be found in the Constitution or Declaration of Independence.
What think ye of this: http://www.killingthebuddha.com/dogma/red_flags.htm
He is risking his life for fellow man, but is also a man of war, a killer. This is not a criticism, it’s a reality. How is this man in a position to preach, while performing the duties that include risking life and also killing?
If Rome had placed a priority on Bible literacy, and obeyed the New Testament, rather than taking on much of the form and using much of the means of the Roman empire, the image of “Christian Crusades” and motivating call to resist such would no be.
I guess the Lord was all wrong, and you’re right; the muzzies are all born to go to hell, and who are we to try to stop them.
I see the light now. Men are way smarter than God ever dreamed of being.
No, I don't think.
The battle has always been and always will be spiritual. When we do it God's way, we win, and when we join our enemies and try to remove God and his word, we lose. That is the sole reason why we're in the pickle that we're in; following stupid theories like yours and Jimmy Carter's.
Neither is the word, "Christian."
For such a professed Christian, you are woefully judgmental, and hardly humble in your judgments.
Done in convention by the unanimous consent of the states present the seventeenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven and of the independence of the United States of America the twelfth.
They seem pretty happy to be Muslims. If you're saying we should only be fighting for Christians then we'd better get out of the area now.
The battle isn't spiritual. The battle is about free markets.
...With friends like this....
“The battle isn’t Spiritual. The battle is about free markets”.
Free markets in Iraq is not worth the life of a single American.
I’m not so sure you have the final say in that. And, for that, I’m thankful and you should be, too.
Precisely. Are you more likely to respond to a foaming-at-the-mouth maniac waving a Bible in your face or a neighbor who exemplifies Christ in his daily life over a long period of time?
"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still".
Well at least you are honest, I give you points for that.
You will be the first one to bitch about the government making laws without your consent or taking action without your approval.
Then, in the next breath, you have no issue with making our country into a theocracy? Oh, you think I am overstating the case?
Following YOUR idiotic advice and allowing this conflict to turn into a religious crusade is EXACTLY what you are advocating. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I am not. You said it with your own words.
We live in a constitutional republic. You seem to enjoy comparing me to Jimmy Carter. We all know Jimmy Carter is a raging liberal and one of the hallmarks of liberalism is that liberals are unable to view reality, seeing things as they would like them to be, not as they are.
Okay then, Mister Deep Thinker. Answer this: How many people in this country would advocate going over to the muslim countries around the world and converting muslims to Christianity at the point of the gun? Hm? Be honest now, if you have an ounce of it in your body, let's use it all up on this question.
What do you say? 70% of your fellow Americans would approve of that? 50%? 25%?
Hey Einstein, how about less than 5% or most likely even less than 1%.
The point is, Mr. Deep Thoughts, that there is a miniscule fraction of people in this country who would advocate this lunacy that lives as a great idea in your mind of turning our Military into a group for Christian proselytization. I am willing to bet money you are thinking something moronic like "All the people I know think it would be a good idea..."
Yeah. Just like the uber liberal Pauline Kael, who said, after the 1972 electoral victory of Richard Nixon over George McGovern, "How can that be? No one I know voted for Nixon!" Your apparent ability to disconnect from reality gives you a lot in common with Mr. Carter. Or maybe it is your ignorance of the constitutional republic we live in. Or maybe it is just Plain, Ignorance that makes you sound like you are from Plains, Georgia.
As a matter of fact, YOUR idea of converting them all at the point of a gun gives you a lot more in common with the Ayatollah Khomeini.
If you want to start a religious war, you either do it through the political process here, or go start your own country.
Better yet, why don't you renounce your American citizenship and go live in Iran? You will be right at home there. But of course, this is America, so you can decide. If you stay here, and turn out to be more than just an empty brain and actually DO get your own crusade started, after we finish with converting all the muslims at the point of our soldier's guns, we can start in on the Catholics, Mormons and whatever strain of Protestantism is different from yours. Just do yourself a favor, genius, and make sure YOUR version of Christianity is the right one so YOU don't end up on the wrong side of a gun. I know, I know...that concept is just a little too deep for you, but maybe if you start reading some history books, it might come to you.
But I have a better idea: Take your crap somewhere else. The forebears of most Americans didn't come here to have a religion, any religion, shoved down their throats as you and some of your like-minded friends would advocate.
