Stirring up anti-Latino sentiment

Some of those who rail against illegal immigration can dish it out, but they can't take it. Since most illegal immigrants come from Mexico or other parts of Latin America, critics sometimes say the sort of crude things that give the debate its anti-Latino flavor. But let someone call them on it and do they ever get defensive.

Speaking to supporters in Palm Beach last week, Barack Obama blasted a couple of media personalities by name.

“A certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There's a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year,” Obama said. “If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it's not surprising that would happen.”

It's about time. That some cable hosts and radio talkers grow their ratings by pandering to the anti-immigrant crowd is no big secret.

Not surprisingly, supporters of Dobbs and Limbaugh went on the attack. They insisted that Obama had overstated the statistics. In 2006, the FBI reported that hate crimes against Hispanics increased 10 percent from the previous year – 576 in 2006, 522 in 2005.

Nevertheless, Hispanics in 2006 were considered by the FBI as the No. 1 victim of hate crimes motivated by one's ethnicity or national origin, and by a margin that was the highest since records have been kept. Hispanics represented 62.8 percent of victims of crimes motivated by a bias toward a victim's ethnicity or national origin.

So Obama was on the right track.

As CBS would say, Obama's statistics are “fake but accurate.”

Nobody is anti-immigrant. They're anti-amnesty and pro border security just like a majority of American citizens.

Speaking of the FBI, check out their Most Wanted violent fugitives, and make up your own mind about who the predators are.

Half of the California prison population is Illegal Aliens. 20% of the Federal population is as well. 3% of the population committing this much mayhem should “gin” things up. Those figures are from the well known “hate group” the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

That FBI list is a big dose of truth that the PC liars can’t whitewash.

Hispanic is not a race. My wife is a proud American of Italian ancestry. Italians suffered discrimination and bigotry when they first came to America which makes anything Latinos have suffered pale by comparison.

But nobody considers them a race anymore. Why?

Could it be because her grandmother was typical when she was told as a little girl newly arrived: "You are in America now. You will speak English. You will become Americans."

Oh, I'm "anti-immigrant", as long as the modifier "illegal" is between the "anti" and the "immigrant".

But what do you expect from a San Diego newsrag??

Yep, and the media’s darling Obama acts like Forrest Gump every time he opens his ignorant mouth. He need his puppet masters to hold him up.

Really it boggles the mind that someone with all the supposedly smarts got as far as he did

The reason Hispanics are the highest victim of hate crimes is because hate crimes against whites are generally not counted. I would like to know the ethnic breakdown of the perpetrators of these hate crimes as well.

Are they drooling rednecks who listen to Limbaugh daily or are they blacks living in neighborhoods where Hispanics have moved into.

Right, FBI claims can be made by anyone just as blacks claim that they are "victims of hate crimes" when more whites are victimized by both groups than the reverse.

The highest incidents occur with their respective races, but as those don't constitute "hate" we are to presume there is no crime involved.

“hate crimes against whites are generally not counted”

Also, see: “child victims of gun violence”=juvenile gang bangers

This open borders mouth-piece never provides any empirical evidence of his libels.
He just expects his outrageous statements to be taken at face value, like most liberals.

I don't doubt that some white scumbags have used illegals as easy marks but that really can't be attributed to the 200,000,000 white people living in America.

Criminals are criminals and will do all kinds of evil things regardless of skin color.

The Dems have been very good at painting Republicans as white racists and themselves as the savior of the oppressed. It's easy to play to peoples fears. While the Dems can point to skin head attacks on the vulnerable, 500,000 Mexican citizens marching in LA with signs claiming ownership of the Southwest is nothing for American citizens to worry about.

The feds must do more to prevent crimes in the hispanic communities. I can't imagine what it must be like for children to have guns waved in their faces and to live in fear of complete strangers storming into their homes in the dark of night...

So, is it a crime to hate false allegations of hate crime?

And since I’m getting philosophical here:

The Buddhist monk said to the hot dog vendor,

“Make me one with everything . . . “

So the vendor did, and the monk handed him a twenty.

The monk waited, then said, “Where’s my change?”

And the vendor replied, “Change comes from within.”

Have a good weekend.

Sorry, Obama, I’m still opposed to illegal immigration. Which, if you can make the distinction, is different from xenophobia. Maybe Obama should stop blurring the distinction.

Hmm, let's see. I don't know If my calculator will go this low but I'll give it a shot.

Oh the HUGH MANATEE! This crime wave must be stopped NOW!

And not that it matters (yeah, right) but how many of these hate crimes were committed by Black Gang members against Hispanic Gang members? And how many Hispanics committed hate crimes against Blacks?

(((((( crickets ))))))
