Yes, but. Mia Farrow has just become Cindy Sheehan’s sister:

The murder rate for Philadelphia is 18 so far this year.

2007 was 27 murders.

2006 was 22 murders.

This is one large city in the US.

It's over. We'd better get ready to deal with that, because a whole lot of people are going to deny it and a whole lot more desperately work to undo it. Every casualty from here on out is going to be celebrated - what the hell, that's not too strong a word, the MSM have been celebrating them for five long years - and used to deny what is slowly beginning to dawn even on Obamas of the world. The good guys won this one. God bless each and every one of them.

19 is incorrect if you define KIA as service members lost in hostile action. I think the number using that definition is 15 for the current month, which is the lowest in the history of the war. Zero can’t come soon enough, but if we continue to allow accidental deaths and those due to illness in the number to be reported as ‘Iraq War Deaths’, that number will never be zero since accidents, though already remarkably low considering, will unfortunately continue. The shameful use of the numbers of dead as political ammo is galling, but even more so when headlines of ‘Iraq War Dead Reach 4000’, when more that 500 of those deaths were due to illness and accident, which would have happened at some rate regardless of the state of war or lack of war. The military suffered a higher rate of loss due to accident and non hostile causes in time of peace, as under the ‘enlightened leadership’ of the Noble Peace Prize winning Carter. Which I hastened to add, does nothing to lessen the noble sacrifice of those volunteering today and paying the ultimate price.

I follow the icasualties blog and I believe the actual # of KIA may be less than 19. I noticed that one soldier was counted as KIA even though the DoD release stated he had been killed by a hit and run while on leave in Chicago, also I believe they've counted a couple of the non-combat related deaths twice.

We havc to take advantage of this and not let it get out of hand like the last time we had 20 kia/month.
