“Iraq War American KIA This Month Lowest Since War Began”
what moron writes these headlines?
One fewer deaths reported on this site for both months.

Hell yeah.
19 is incorrect if you define KIA as service members lost in hostile action. I think the number using that definition is 15 for the current month, which is the lowest in the history of the war. Zero can’t come soon enough, but if we continue to allow accidental deaths and those due to illness in the number to be reported as ‘Iraq War Deaths’, that number will never be zero since accidents, though already remarkably low considering, will unfortunately continue. The shameful use of the numbers of dead as political ammo is galling, but even more so when headlines of ‘Iraq War Dead Reach 4000’, when more that 500 of those deaths were due to illness and accident, which would have happened at some rate regardless of the state of war or lack of war. The military suffered a higher rate of loss due to accident and non hostile causes in time of peace, as under the ‘enlightened leadership’ of the Noble Peace Prize winning Carter. Which I hastened to add, does nothing to lessen the noble sacrifice of those volunteering today and paying the ultimate price.
We havc to take advantage of this and not let it get out of hand like the last time we had 20 kia/month.
