It’s not “in your face” in the way the gays are. It’s just having a BBQ and having a little fun to commemorate the silliness of “global warming”. Don’t be such a stick-in-the-mud! Have fun!
I also celebrate Ramadan in the same way, by eating bacon and sausage for breakfast, and having pork chops for dinner.
Waste was not a poor choice of words. I went to the source and waste is exactly what they are asking us to do. Leaving lights on all day, intentionally not maximizing energy/work ratio by running partial loads in washer and dryer etc. This all seems very un-conservative.
God who commanded us to fill the earth and subdue it.
Does subdue mean waste? The way I look at this passage, I see that God wants us to cultivate the land and become stewards of his earth ( I use steward because God is the master and we are his servants managing his creation). God has given us a resource, do you think we should be fruitless with Gods' gift? Lets look at the Genesis 1:28 again
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."
It would seem to me that fruitless waste is not what God intended when he ordered us to subdue the earth, quite the opposite.
I agree with you that there are overzealous politicians and citizen nutcases, but this call to waste is a misguided exercise of vanity.
No. It means making use of all the earth's resources to our maximum benefit, receiving them as gifts. I will gladly leave the lights on a little longer and smoke a few cigars to counter the fools who think our Maker cannot handle His own creation. Both their soap box, and yours, are growing old.
You would have me believe that you are honoring God by leaving the lights on all day. Give me a break.
The liberals are ignorant zealots on this issue, and so are you.
I'll let the lawn mower run a little extra on 6/12 in your honor.
Go ahead, I totally support your right to be liberal with your resources. I don't think it is going to effect the environment one way or another. So if you are trying to get my goat, it aint happening. My point was that being intentionally wasteful is un-conservative.
Stultus est sicut stultus facit.
heh heh heh... everybody eat broccoli the night before. Thanks neverdem.
THE 12th? IT WILL BE TO LATE!
Just wait till next week. They will get their way and WE WILL PAY!
I will certainly smoke an extra cigar on that day, while driving my pick-up on my way to the store to bye a couple of steaks to throw on the Bar-B-Que.
Sounds like a spectacular day to me
Oops...Bye=buy
I always thought it was a halmark of Liberalism to do things "in your face" this way, in order to intentionally annoy. Typical childish behaviour. I suspect that it might actually be more of a sign of a loss of control and power, so as Conservatives start feeling their power waning, they'll resort to these kinds of displays.
Apparently you missed the point of this whole protest. It is not an invitation to a policy of ongoing wastefulness, but a protest against those who would like to run our lives as if we are so powerful as to nullify the gifts given at creation. I’ll gladly “waste” a little as a means of nullifying the effects of overzealous nutcases.
No, I understand the point in full. Problem is, it is little more than self gratification. There are much more productive ways to combat the idiocy of knee jerk policy based on hasty science. For example, educate yourself on the issue, call or write your congressman, donate money to a climate research center that doesn't have a political agenda (say the amount of money saved by not leaving your friggin lights on all day). This wasteful protest is counter productive, and will drive rational people away from your cause.
By the way, using biblical references to support this idea just makes you look like a self righteous punk.
I prefer substance to appearances. Nothing wrong with writing your congressman, but, like the Boston Tea Party, there’s nothing wrong a little rebellion against tyranny either. What a “waste,” all that tea. But go ahead and play Polyanna so as not to look bad.
If I were the one waxing sanctimonious over a small amount of waste I might agree.
