Maybe she had one of those little tote trays with cleaning supplies and such in it. Likely the guy had his eyes focused "elsewhere" and wouldn't have even noticed.

Just a theory.

If she was wearing a wig, she could hide the stolen goods there. I heard about a woman who worked in a bank and was smuggling bills under her wig each day.
