Since this was a ‘Special Election’, does Childers have to run for re-election this November, or did he win a ‘fixed term’. Seems his actions since he arrived in Congress would be a good argument the Republicans could use to encourage folks to NOT vote for him again.

Yes, Childers has to run for the seat again in November. I don't have much hope for your scenario because of the ostrich attitude of the majority of the voters in the Eastern section of the MS-1 District. Davis was a Conservative, a real one, but Childers is a pork promising Democrat that many of the voters here thrive upon. We have the Ms Speaker of the House who is one of the most heavy handed and partisan politicians currently in Ms (McCoy) and the Democrat base in this area has expanded its influence greatly..
