Climate of ignorance (Another AGW denier)
Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | May, 27, 2008 | Ben Lieberman

Millions of vacationers paid record prices for gasoline as they hit the roads over Memorial Day weekend. And only those who've been in the sun too long would like to see prices climb even higher. Yet several members of Congress seem determined to guarantee that they will. They're trying to pass a bill that would raise pump prices. Why? Because they think it would force people to use less.

The America's Climate Security Act, sponsored by Sens. Joseph Lieberman, I-Conn., and John Warner, R-Va., would also increase electricity and natural gas costs, all in the name of supposedly fighting global warming.

The bill, scheduled to be debated in the Senate on June 2, essentially places limits on the amount of gasoline and other fossil fuels Americans can use. The aim is to cut our emissions of carbon dioxide, which is blamed for warming the planet.

No matter how much lipstick you put on the pig, it's still a pig. This bill effectively institutes rationing of gasoline and other fossil fuels, raising the cost of energy to households and firms alike. The sad reality is that, since the cost of energy is built in to almost all goods and services out there, middle-class households are the losers here. Congress will offer rebates to "low-income" households and the truly well-to-do will find ways to absorb higher prices.

Add this to recent threats by Rep. Waters (D-CA) to nationalize the oil companies, the falling dollar, and the continued posturing and creation of endless unfunded liabilities by both parties. I would wager that this is the making of a perfect storm for the establishment.

Hello Boss, I can’t come into work today because I used up all my gas coming into work all week.” “What? Don’t come in on Monday?”

Because they think it would force people to use less.

I remember this as their standard policy (excuse) even when gas was around a dollar a gallon. This could be the most failed policy of all times. These congress criminals can't give up their PAC money. Higher prices will only deter people from buying gas when they are bankrupted and have no money to buy gas much less a car to put it in.

The Brits have already imposed carbon taxes and gasoline is about $8 per gallon and no change is reported in CO2 levels. May be people will some day wake up to the global warming farce.

The moronic politicians are going to drive the middle class into poverty with their bright ideas. The rising cost of living is already forcing people to cut back on spending. In an environment where both parents are already working, there’s not much a family could do to increase earnings. How do the politicians think the economy can grow if people are spending all their money on energy, government taxes and environmental charges?

I have a better idea. What we need is "The America's Climate Protection Amendment" to the US Constitution, whereby the government is specifically prohibited from making any law, regulation or executive order, or imposing any tax, for the purpose of changing or regulating the climate of the planet.

It's the only way to preserve our natural liberties from the onslaught of the global warming nazis.

Even if such an amendment is politically impossible, a serious debate on its merits would do much to put the pro-global warming policy makers where they belong -- which is on the defensive.

And yes, they are pro-global warming, in the sense that they desperately want it to be true, even if it isn't.

And if this bill passes and is signed into law -- I wouldn't put it past Bush, now that he's being followed by Wcmg -- all that highway revenue the government is seeking will dry up as people hop into gas-sipping cars and mass transit facilities.

Big Government soooooooooooooooo never fails to shoot itself in the foot.
