Have We Heard of Obama's Uncle Before?
A key update to this post, in which Obama describes "his uncle, who was part of the American brigade that helped to liberate Auschwitz."
From a Chicago Tribune profile of Obama's mother:
The education of Obama the would-be politician didn't begin, of course, until after his birth in 1961, in Honolulu. But the parental traits that would mold him a contrarian worldview, an initial rejection of organized religion, a questioning nature were already taking shape years earlier in the nomadic and sometimes tempestuous Dunham family, where the only child was a curious and precocious daughter of a father who wanted a boy so badly that he named her Stanley after himself.
Presuming Obama's mother didn't have some previously unknown long-lost brother, is Obama referring to his mother's cousin or some other, more distant relation on his mother's side? A great-uncle perhaps?
This uncle couldn't be on his Kenyan father's side, could it?
I doubt Obama would be insane enough to lie about this. But I think this is the first we've heard of this uncle from Obama. Like with his previously-unmentioned trip to Pakistan, Obama the subject of two autobiographies, other biographies, and countless magazine and newspaper profiles there are still chapters of his life story not yet explored.

There was a really neat lie he told about Martin Luther King too, but I've forgotten how it went. I think it was something like that MLK’s I have a dream speech cause Obama’s mom and dad to fall in love. If not that, it may have been the march in Selma. Any way, he's just full of self-serving gibberish that shows him to be a very insecure man indeed. The MSM will gloss over this so fast that most Americans will never even find out about it. Remember, though, that when they turned on Hillary they skewered her, finally, for her lies. Obama’s their favorite liberal, and he'll get a pass on this recent charade.

He said his parents got together and made a little Obambi because of the March on Selma, which occurred 4 years after his birth.
He has a wee little problem with dates, history, geography, and veracity. Otherwise, though, he’s a swell guy.

Maybe he was referring to a great-uncle. His grandfathers brothers. No, it was his uncle. He went on to be a mercinary who trained the snipers who shot at Hillary in Bosnia.

No you are correct - the Soviet troops liberated Auschwitz, which was hundreds of miles to the east of any US troops.

Does Barry even know the meaning of Memorial Day? Rush is playing clips of Barry's speech compared to President Bush at Arlington National Cemetery. Rush says that if McCain had ever made one of these gaffes, he would have been driven out of the race.

Can’t be. Obama is a Christian in the Jeremiah Wright vein.

My crazy uncle (he's still around) liberated Buchenwald in April 1945 as part of the 4th Armored Div. of the Third Army. US troops were also directly involved in liberating Dachau and Mauthausen.
Uncle Billy says he's still mad at the Krauts, BTW.

Yes, obviously, Obama's uncle was in the Red Army: "On January 17, 1945 Nazi personnel started to evacuate the facility; most of the prisoners were forced on a death march to the camp toward Wodzisław Śląski (German: Loslau). Those too weak or sick to walk were left behind; about 7,500 prisoners were liberated by the 322nd Rifle Division of the Red Army on January 27 1945."

The mid-60s Selma march brought his parents together except he was born in 1961 and they’d been together clearly at least 9 months before that.

Obama has lots of uncles in Kenya.
It was uncle Igor Obama who was in the Soviet army when Auschwitz was liberated.
