Auschwitz of course is in Poland. It was liberated by the Red Army on Jan 27 1945. Poland, on most maps is usually placed to the east of Germany, although we may need to investigate the geography textbooks the Messiah used as a child…
The Allies were wrapping up the battle of the bulge in late January of 1945 — the Rhine crossings were still well into the future when Auschwitz was liberated. Either Obama’s uncle served in the Red Army, or he’s spinning Clintonesque lies about Auschwitz to sell his government programs. Hey, it’s for a good cause…but it’s not enough for him. It has to be personal. It has to be all about him.
It’s like Bill Clinton whining about those Arkansas church burnings he witnessed as a child–church burnings which never actually happened.

Yes, my great-uncles were always “uncle” to me when I was growing up. Still need to find out whether there’s anything to the concentration camp story or not. Certainly it wasn’t Auschwitz, but maybe one of the others.
Although it's a bit much to have TWO mistakes of fact in one short sentence. Aren't his speechwriters checking this stuff?

I spent a couple of hours in 2005 with Obama’s chief of staff and a man who was introduced to me as Obama’s uncle. The man said he was Obama’s father’s brother. I did not inquire into how many wives Grandpa had. He was at the Court with a couple of Kenyan politicians and businessmen. That said, he was not old enough to have been in the service in the 1940’s.

All I found was a link from the hot air blog, to the Ace blog and record of who served in WW2 from Kansas, there is no mention of which unit he served with in Europe.
Now where it becomes interesting, C..BS has edited their blog page to say “Grandfather” instead of “uncle”, and the WaPo also edited their coverage of the event, but the two reporters who were there are sticking by their initial report about his “uncle”.
It couldn’t have been Dachau, as the 7th Army liberated it, patton was the 3rd Army.
Now here is an interesting point, in The Pawcity of Hope” Obama states that he wished he could be rid of his “Whiteness” ala Malcom X, now at need, his WW2 soldier Grand Parents are used as fodder on Memorial Day.
Who might or might not have liberated some camp, though not in Poland.
And might or might not have spent 6 months in the attic. (I don't think his name would be enough to drive him to the attic, because presumably he was used to it by then.)
This might warrant some further digging, though.
Well, he could be talking about a great-uncle. I didn’t realize when I was a kid that all those uncles and aunts I had were great-uncles and aunts. When my parents referred to them as such I assumed they were my uncles and aunts also.
So See B.S. and the WaPo have cut and run, while the reporters are standing by their story.
If it was a great-uncle, he could have been with the 7th. If, as the news media are now back-pedalling, it was his grandfather in the 3rd, it could have been Buchenwald or Mauthausen.

And the reason why Barack Hussein Obama did not say "Great Uncle," using the simpler (and incorrect) "Uncle" term is that "Great Uncle" is a racist and patriarchal term that is deeply offensive to comrade Barack.
