Auschwitz of course is in Poland. It was liberated by the Red Army on Jan 27 1945. Poland, on most maps is usually placed to the east of Germany, although we may need to investigate the geography textbooks the Messiah used as a child…
The Allies were wrapping up the battle of the bulge in late January of 1945 — the Rhine crossings were still well into the future when Auschwitz was liberated. Either Obama’s uncle served in the Red Army, or he’s spinning Clintonesque lies about Auschwitz to sell his government programs. Hey, it’s for a good cause…but it’s not enough for him. It has to be personal. It has to be all about him.
It’s like Bill Clinton whining about those Arkansas church burnings he witnessed as a child–church burnings which never actually happened.
I think the Obamessiah just out Tuzla’d Hillary. The man is…nefarious.
Considering his family’s communist history, his uncle may have fought with the Red Army.
If there was an uncle, it could have been the brother of one of Obama’s grandparents. It seems unlikely that a contemporary of his mother would have fought in WWII since she was born in 1942.
The truth is more likely that his great uncle was in a unit that helped liberate Dachau. Obama is just too historically illiterate to know the truth. I’d still say it is 60-40 that there was no uncle and it was just a story he heard somewhere.

Maybe he will have to trot out his “typical white person” grandma (pull her out from under the wheels of the bus) to explain just which relative was at the liberation of Auschwitz. Maybe the uncle that served in the Red Army.....

It does say a great deal about his character to exploit a lie (or a “legend”) for political gain. He’s using this story as a way to gain even more points with the anti-war crowd.
I argued with a liberal at a volleyball game yesterday about this very thing...well it started out with this particular subject, anyway.
Her whine was “war produces more casualties than what we really know about”. She went on to talk about soldiers “coming back from VN and Iraq” and “all the suicides you don’t hear about” and how the “largest percentage of homeless people are veterans”. We even argued about oil companies and the price of oil, drilling in Alaska, George Bush, etc. I think we covered it all. I was pretty well exhausted when I left her and was polite and even said “good-bye” and “good luck” to her girls in volleyball. (My 2 girls creamed her 3 girls in a match, btw.)
I told her I “understand your position tho I disagree” and that “you can’t help it because you’re a liberal and that’s just what you believe.” I guess that was too personal.
All I got was a dirty look when we parted. sigh
I need to really be more prepared when I get into these discussions or don’t get into them. I always walk away from them thinking “damn, I shoulda said *this* or *that*”
I posted several weeks ago that Obama beat the Clintons by out-lying them. The other thing which accounts for his victory is that the Clintons aren’t as far left, which infuriates the hard-core Demonrat base.
