Karl Rove: U.S. Cannot Secure Border
You Tube ^ | 6 December 2006 | Karl Rove (via C SPAn)

Posted on 05/27/2008 8:29:00 AM PDT by shrinkermd

A good deal of what is posted on FR is based on misreading of the facts or outright xenophobia. Anyone who speaks on this subject should have some facts and understanding of the issues and solutions.

Karl Rove did this in December 2006. The You Tube presentation at CSPAN can be found: HERE.

Exactly. Securing our border would be a piece of cake compared to landing men on the moon and bringing them back safely to Earth.

Build a double-walled fence with a road down the middle from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico, 2,100 miles in length. Station active duty Army and Marine Corps units along the border.

The only thing difficult about this plan is the lack of political will from the pandering, open border politicians in Washington.

And that’s where the “insatiable demand” for illegals comes from.

In the 70's, you were part of the baby boom. We are now in a baby bust and that is where the demand for imported labor (legal and illegal) comes from.

This was inevitable. Before there were substantial numbers of women in the workplace, a family could get by with only a single full-time worker. Now, both parents regularly work to pay the bill of the household. Simply, the larger the pool of candidates for a job, the lower the premium one must pay to an employee. Just as when business effectively doubled its worker pool when women entered the workforce, the easiest way to hold down labor costs is to continue to have an expanding labor pool.

History of the Alcan Highway

http://www.visi.com/~alcan/History.html

"The construction of the 1,522 mile long road from Dawson Creek, British Colombia, to Fairbanks, Alaska through rugged, unmapped wilderness was heralded as a near impossible engineering feat. Many likened it to the building of the Panama Canal.

There was much praise for soldiers who pushed it through in just eight months and twelve days.

And, this feat was accomplished by 10,760 Army personnel (including 3,700 troops from Black Battalions) and most had no ENGINEERING or road building experience.

Now this supposed "guru" Rove, makes this idiotic comment?

Sheesh. Gimme a F'n break.

If we had the WILL, we could build a double layered 12 foot fence from Texas to Kalleyforneea (as Ahnold pronounces it) in less than a year.

Employers are getting a 40 to 60 percent discount on general unskilled labor compared to the 70’s.

And that’s where the “insatiable demand” for illegals comes from.

This fact is easy to forget for those simplistic morons who thinks unions exist only to preserve the jobs of incompetents.

There is something of a fallacy in your argument. Think about farm families, which used to actually make up a good fraction of our population. Mom may not have worked for a paying job, but she sure as heck worked on the farm.

First five minutes were good. He should have stopped after that. Because then he starts to run to his global position. Screw him.

“Anyone who speaks on this subject should have some facts and understanding of the issues and solutions.”

Practice what you preach Karl! What about the thousands of dead Americans because you insist ‘the border can’t be secured!?? What about that? You and your buddy Grover Norquist have created this open border mess. Go away!

One more such outburst from you and I'll have you on the Moderator's Carpet. Economic common sense has no place on this thread. Next thing you know, you'll be talking about "unintended consequences," or some such.

Perfection is the enemy of good enough. We can and should reduce illegal entry into our country for many reasons. Lack of will is our number one problem, and mainly resides in Washington DC. Out here in the rest of the country we know the costs and benefits of illegal immigration - and we know what we have now is a net negative to our society.

...it was Bush & Rove who kissed the Mexican govt.'s behinds by allowing the Mexican leaders to "coax" their millions to break our Federal laws.

Does your employer's health care plan cover Bush Derangement Syndrome? You may want to check out treatment options.

Give me a break!
These are the people who want to dissolve our borders and have one big, happy North American Union.

“We can’t secure our border”...RUBBISH!

Why people take policy opinions of Rove seriously is beyond me. The guy was a campaign advisor. A good one. But he’s not a pundit and his opinions are generally crap.

“Ronald Reagan and Newt brought us out of the darkness, it was the Bush “Kinder Gentler Nation” and Bush “Compassionate Conservative” that threw us right back into the abyss. If you want to be lickspittle for those clowns, okay, be my guest; but quit lying. “Oh it’s always been bad and...” BS “

Newt? Please don’t put him in the same sentence as Reagan. Newt is ALL tied up with Grover Norquist, the guy who runs the White House immigration/trade policies. The guy who destroyed every other immigration reform for the past 20 years, along with Steve Moore (Club for Growth), Ceasar Conda (former domestic policy advisor to Cheney)

Newt signed a letter to the WSJ proclaiming that Bush’s ‘reform’ was the ONLY way to go. In 1998 the Georgia REPUBLICAN delegation put a stop to workplace enforcement that Clinton had actually been practicing. Where you find Rove, you find Norquist.

“A border fence, with monitors and enforcement will reduce the in bound flow from a flood to a stream.”

This “fence” is a joke that Big Brother has pulled on the American people. It has to be a manned wall, not a fence. The Home Depots in Mexico sell bolt cutters. The more poor coyotes and illegals will simply climb a fence.

BS, Karl! Eisenhower did it in the 1950s.

How Eisenhower solved illegal border crossings from Mexico

Thanks, you beat me to it.
