Not because of the amount, but rather because of the sheer number of individual transactions. It creates a database of rows and columns too large for FEC bureaucrats to open on their computers. Because they apparently dont have Microsoft Excel 2007 or something.
Anyway, thats interesting news in light of earlier stories about small-money contributions to the Obama campaign ruining transparency in political contributions. See, any contributor giving less than $200 doesnt have to report a name or anything to the campaign for reporting to the FEC. These contributors are, essentially, anonymous.
Back in February Obama already had some 155,000 of these under-$200 contributions totally some $31 million.
Thats a lot of anonymous money. Too much, if you ask me. If some rich radical (like maybe one of Obamas Palestinian buddies?) wanted to funnel millions into Obamas campaign without the source of those millions being known those $200 contributions would be a good way to do it.
As for Obamas big-money fundraising in general, Id note that historically Republicans almost always out-raise Democrats when it comes to campaign money. But that fundraising advantage has hardly guaranteed the GOP victory. Obama may be rolling in the dough, but hes still a naive, inexperienced, far-to-the-left Senator campaigning for an office that a) hasnt been won by a Senator since JFK and b) hasnt been one by a Democrat who campaigned as a liberal since LBJ.
Oh, that was his wife.
Isn’t much of Obama’s money coming over the internet? If so, then there is an electronic trail of names, addresses and account numbers so there is no reason to keep then anonymous.
Now, where could all that money be coming from? I just can't figure it out.
the puppet master
Once again, liberal beauracrats are letting a liberal politician slide.
Its past time to look to see whos funding Obama.
The FEC is u9tterly irrelevant and should be disbanded. At its best, the FEC receives a complaint, then decides whether or not to undertake an investigation; if a decision to investigate is taken, the case is added to the FEC’s to-do list; eventually the investigation will be completed, and a slap-on-the-wrist fine may be imposed. By now, the election is long completed, the election process has been tainted by illicit contributions (which have acheived their intended purpose), and the victorious newly elected office holder’s minions pay the meaningless fine from unspent campaign funds.
Ain’t bureaucracy wonderful?
I would add that the FEC can’t do a damned thing anyway, because there are not enough members to constitute a quorum. And Harry Reid is blocking all of Bush’s nominations, so there never will be a quorum, until after the election.
They currently lack the authority to do anything.
maybe time for Pat Buchanans’”peasants with pitchforks” to fix this mess.
Did a google search for Penny Pritzker had never heard that name before. Did not read all the articles but Pritzker and Obama's names were linked many times.
Because they use Excel? Good grief.
Idiots.
I saw that, I was really surprised that I had never heard that name before
Let me add , OBama spent his spring vacation at her compound in the Virgin Islands .Reportedly the Soros clan was there too !
Hey FEC, try MySQL. It’s Free. (Although Sun Microsysems just paid a billion dollars for it.)
60,000 downloads a day last I knew.
Go for it. Use it.
And be able to look yourself in the mirror without shame.
